๐Ÿ’ป Software Development๐ŸŸ  Manager

Job description

This role is for our mother company, XTM.

XTM International, a global leader in localization technology, has acquired Transifex, an innovative SaaS-based Localization & Translation Management Platform. Transifex provides the required connectivity and advanced AI capabilities to help customers easily and continuously translate digital content on platforms such as SaaS, software, and websites, as well as mobile apps, games, videos, and much more.

XTM International is a leading provider of translation management software (TMS). The company’s cloud-based platform helps businesses streamline their translation processes and improve efficiency.

As an Engineering Manager at XTM, you will lead one or more cross-functional Scrum teams and take full ownership of both their technical delivery and day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you are expected to actively contribute to the codebase โ€” approximately 30% of your time. The remaining 70% will focus on growing and enabling a high-performing, empowered team through coaching, mentoring, and effective process management. You will work closely with Product and other stakeholders to ensure that engineering efforts align with company goals, while also setting the technical direction and maintaining high quality standards across the teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of software engineers across multiple Scrum teams.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, ownership, and learning within the Engineering function.

  • Support and develop team members through regular 1:1s, feedback, mentorship, and career development planning.

  • Collaborate with senior engineering leadership to define and execute the Engineering Roadmap.

  • Ensure high standards of engineering practices and delivery processes across teams.

  • Identify and address technical or operational challenges, driving improvements in onboarding, documentation, SDLC, and overall developer experience.

  • Facilitate communication of company vision and Engineering goals, ensuring alignment and promoting autonomy within teams.

  • Contribute to the technical direction and roadmap in collaboration with other Engineering Managers and the Director of Engineering.

  • Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and psychological safety.

  • Contribute to code implementation and reviews, especially during critical phases.

  • Partner with the HR team to recruit top engineering talent and build diverse, inclusive, high-performing teams.

  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role (e.g., Engineering Manager or Tech Lead).

  • Strong foundation in software engineering and software delivery lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Hands-on experience with Java and Spring development; familiarity with React, AWS, and microservice architectures is a strong plus.

  • Proven experience hiring, developing, and retaining diverse technical talent.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders.

  • Experience working closely with product managers and other business stakeholders.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

  • Fluency in Polish is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in organizations transitioning from monolithic systems to microservices.
  • Background in operating within regulated, enterprise, or high-scale environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.

Our Technology Stack

At XTM, we build and maintain a complex web-based system composed of around 70 Java applications, including a large monolith and numerous microservices. Our backend primarily leverages Java technologies such as Spring, Java EE, Struts2, and Hibernate. On the frontend, we use AngularJS and React. Our system is deployed on Apache Tomcat containers and runs on virtual machines, with plans underway to migrate to a containerized architecture using Docker and Kubernetes. We make extensive use of messaging via ActiveMQ (JMS), and our storage layer includes PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra, and Amazon S3. We follow modern software development practices, including CI with Jenkins and a strong focus on automation, scalability, and system observability.

We take a thoughtful, global approach to compensationโ€”considering your location, experience, and individual performance. In addition to a competitive base salary, you’ll also receive a range of benefits designed to reflect our values and support your wellbeing. The health of our company and the success of the SaaS product we offer is directly related to the work environment we create for ourselves. Our programs are tailored to meet local needs while ensuring fairness and consistency internationally.

With this in mind, we strive to create a welcoming and positive place in which we work and thrive! For our team members, we offer:

  • Private Health Insurance
  • Paid Time Off
  • Work From Home
  • Training & Development
