Job description
VetsEZ is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Software Developer to serve as the Technical Lead for a critical modernization initiative. This role will lead the transition of a legacy PHP application from CodeIgniter to Laravel, setting the architectural direction, mentoring other developers, and driving the successful delivery of a cloud-based web solution. The ideal candidate brings deep Laravel experience, full-stack capability, and a passion for solving complex problems with clean, scalable code.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and deployment of modern Laravel applications.
Oversee migration from CodeIgniter to Laravel with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and clean architecture.
Mentor developers, uphold code quality, and foster team knowledge-sharing.
Write secure, maintainable code with strong documentation and testing.
Review and approve code to ensure consistency and best practices.
Participate in Agile ceremonies via Microsoft Teams.
Track tasks and deliverables using internal project tools.
Stay up to date on security protocols and development trends.
Tackle complex problems independently while supporting team growth.
Design with empathy and prioritize the user experience.
Collaborate effectively to support shared goals.
Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years in full-stack PHP development with deep Laravel experience.
Proven success migrating legacy applications like CodeIgniter.
Proficient in Vue.js and modern JavaScript frameworks.
Strong skills in HTML, CSS, and preprocessors like SASS/LESS.
Git expertise and familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
Experience working with RESTful APIs.
Detail-oriented and user-focused approach.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
U.S. work authorization required.
Additional Qualifications
Experience with Docker and containerized development.
Familiarity with AWS services and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong SQL and database optimization skills.
Background in healthcare or government projects.
Passion for creating intuitive, high-performance UIs.
