Job summary:
The Learning Operations Manager is a senior in-country leadership role that provides day-to-day operational management, people support, and local coordination for the Learning Design and Content Marketing teams based in Cape Town. This role acts as a key cultural and operational bridge between Cape Town and the Australia-based leadership team, fostering alignment in delivery, team engagement, and strategic priorities.
The role has dotted-line people leadership responsibilities for the Learning Design team and local oversight of the Content Marketing function. The Learning Operations Manager partners closely with the Director of Learning (Australia), Lead Learning Designers, and the Associate Director, Corporate Communications (Australia), ensuring that Cape Town teams are empowered, supported, and aligned to global goals.
The role is also accountable for ensuring an exceptional employee experience through streamlined onboarding, local resourcing coordination, and ongoing professional development support.
Key Responsibilities:
People Leadership & Team Culture:
- Act as the in-country leader and primary point of contact for Learning Design and Content Marketing teams in Cape Town. Provide day-to-day support, coaching, and pastoral care, fostering wellbeing and psychological safety.
- Manage local dynamics such as global meeting loads and promote healthy work-life integration.
- Reinforce a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive culture, that is aligned with OES values and best practices.
- In collaboration with Australian-based Leads, ensure all team members have active development plans and their professional development and growth is supported.
- Lead or Contribute to initiatives that enhance the employee experience, including engagement, team rituals and recognition practices.
Operational Delivery and Enablement:
- Own the onboarding and induction experience for new hires, including coordinating with working with the People Team, IT and functional leads to ensure day-one readiness.
- Collaborate with Australian Leads to enable local capacity / resourcing planning, workload balancing, and delivery coordination.
- Support timely and effective delivery of learning projects.
- Resolve local blockers and facilitate agile and efficient ways of working.
- Champion continuous improvement of local workflows, tools and practices to support agile delivery.
Learning Design Team Oversight:
- Lead and contribute to the design and development of high-quality, innovative learning experiences.
- Support the quality assurance and enhancement of learning assets, ensuring alignment with OES standards and partner expectations.
Content Marketing Team Oversight:
- Ensure that the content team are supporting strategic marketing objectives.
- Collaborate with the Content Marketing Manager (Cape Town) and Associate Director, Corporate Communications (Australia) to ensure alignment of team goals and activity.
- Provide local support and pastoral care for the Content Marketing team.
- Support communication and collaboration across learning, marketing and design functions.
- Ensure all content marketing activities meet quality requirements and are in line with Marketing Strategies
- Regularly review, refine and drive process enhancements alongside the Content Marketing team.
Cross-Team Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a connector and facilitator between teams in Cape Town and Australia.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with peers, stakeholders, and support teams across geographies.
- Provide insights and feedback on resourcing, engagement, delivery risks and opportunities.

Essential:
- Proven experience leading or coaching high-performing teams in a creative, learning, or marketing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to foster culture, wellbeing and operational excellence in cross-functional teams.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills across geographies and disciplines.
- Familiarity with digital or blended learning environments and tools.
Desirable:
- Experience working in education, learning design or instructional development.
- Understanding of content marketing or internal communications.
- Previous experience in a matrixed or cross-regional organisation.
