About the Role (your why)
As the Practice Lead – Business Analysis, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic and operational success of the Business Analysis function within our Digital Engineering & Data team. This leadership position is responsible for guiding a skilled team of Business Analysts in delivering innovative, high-quality solutions that support and enhance our software engineering and AI capabilities. By championing best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and mentoring team members in their professional growth, you will ensure the team operates at peak performance and consistently meets and exceeds business objectives. With a blend of technical expertise and visionary leadership, you will be instrumental in aligning business analysis strategies with organisational goals, enabling impactful outcomes to support our evolving business needs.
What you’ll do
Leadership & Team Management
- Mentor, and develop a team of business analysts, ensuring they have the necessary skills and tools to succeed.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet business requirements and satisfy demand.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation within the team.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support when needed.
Presales & Proposal Development
- Collaborate closely with the sales team and clients to understand business objectives, challenges, and requirements.
- Develop tailored, value-driven solutions by aligning the Datacom’s capabilities with the client’s needs, leveraging domain expertise, and presenting comprehensive proposals and strategies.
- Ensure the proposed solutions adhere to best practices, align with client standards, and are scalable for future needs.
Process Improvement & Best Practices
- Develop and enforce business analysis best practices, including innovation using AI tools
- Identify opportunities for team optimisation and efficiency gains.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for the business analysis practice.
Collaboration & Client Engagement
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings with client stakeholders to elicit and document business needs, objectives, and pain points.
- Work with the client to map, analyse, and document current-state business processes, workflows, and systems. Provide recommendations for future-state processes that drive efficiencies, reduce costs, or deliver enhanced value.
- Act as a bridge between technical teams and client stakeholders during solution design and development, ensuring the solution addresses business requirements.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with client stakeholders, showcasing professionalism and deep expertise to inspire confidence in project outcomes.
What you’ll bring
- Ability to guide, mentor, and support a team of senior business analysts in best practices and problem-solving.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex strategic and resourcing issues. Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and clients. Commitment to optimising processes, adopting new technologies, and driving efficiency.
- Bachelors’ degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 12+ years of experience in business analysis and applications engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or a coaching role.
- Experience with enterprise operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux) and applications (e.g., databases, middleware, cloud services).
- Familiarity with IT software development tools such as Sharepoint, JIRA, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Miro, Figma, Visio - or similar.
