The Opportunity

Grass Valley is currently looking to recruit an experienced Presales Solution Engineer to work within the Oceania presales team to support and service our Media and Entertainment customer base.

The role is full time work from home, based in either Australia or New Zealand, reporting to our Sydney based Presales Manager.

Your Role

As a Presales Solution Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing technical solutions for broadcast systems and infrastructure.

You will be well-versed in the facets of complex broadcast solutions and be an integral part of the wider Grass Valley Sales organisation. As a Presales Solution Engineer, you will help guide, shape, design, build, and document innovative next generation media and broadcast solutions on offer from Grass Valley for our customers.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including broadcasters, engineers, along with Media and IT professionals to develop comprehensive and scalable solutions that meet the requirements of the broadcasting industry. You will be responsible for writing and managing proposals and supported by the wider Presales team. Your expertise will contribute to the successful creation and delivery of high-quality content across multiple channels and platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • S ales Engineering Support: Provided to the sales team in the form of technical advice, presentations, demonstration, Proof of Concepts (POC), high level system designs, Drafting of Proposals and Statement of Works (SOW), and meetings with customers.
  • Design and implement end-to-end broadcast solutions: Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand their requirements to design comprehensive broadcast solutions, including scalability, redundancy, cloud or on prem compute, encoding, transcoding, streaming, storage, automation systems, and delivery systems that ensure seamless interoperability and performance optimisation.
  • Technical evaluation and recommendation: Conduct in-depth technical evaluations of hardware, software, and third-party solutions to identify the most suitable components for broadcast systems. Make recommendations based on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Workflow optimisation: Analyse existing customer broadcast workflows to identify opportunities for optimisation and automation. Propose and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Standards and compliance: Stay up to date with industry standards and compliance requirements for broadcast systems, such as SCTE, MPEG, SMPTE, and ATSC. Ensure solutions are compliant and adhere to industry best practices.
  • Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures for internal and external use.
  • Events: The opportunity to participate at industry tradeshows and general consulting support.
  • Travel: Strong customer focus and willing to travel within APAC to Grass Valley offices and Customer locations.

What you Have to Offer

•     Bachelor’s degree in either Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related field or the equivalent real-time industry experience.

•     Strong Operational and Technical knowledge of media and broadcast systems and technologies, including News Production and Editing, Live and Studio Production, Playout, Automation, Transcoding, Streaming, and Delivery.

•     Proven experience as a Presales Solution Engineer or similar role in the media and broadcast industry.

•     Proficiency in video formats and codecs (e.g., MPEG-2, H.264, HEVC).

•     Familiarity with broadcast automation systems, video routers, and storage systems.

•     Experience with IP-based broadcast infrastructure and networking protocols.

•     Understanding of cloud-based streaming and broadcasting, software applications, and content delivery solutions.

•     Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

•     Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

•     Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
