The team is building products to help developers effectively make their applications more reliable and more secure. We measure this as more time building, less time spent on repetitive operational tasks, and less context switching. The candidate for this role will be core to expanding and strengthening Docker’s multi-product portfolio.

The ideal candidate is passionate about great user experience. This includes both the developer experience of those building on top of the platform and that of the end users consuming services built on the platform. They have recent experience in building and marketing a modern platform for services/applications. They enjoy working with peers in product, engineering, design, marketing, and sales to find the best solution for our users. They have an eye for areas to improve customer outcomes, and the ability to clearly communicate product positioning across a wide range of formats and channels, both internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive go-to-market strategy for Docker products, in close collaboration with teammates in product, engineering, design, marketing, and sales.

  • Develop compelling Jobs-to-Be-Done (JTBD) frameworks and solution narratives that clearly communicate how our products solve customer pain points.

  • Create and execute product marketing campaigns that drive awareness, adoption, and retention of Docker’s products and services in security.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to inform product strategy and drive innovation at Docker.

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, market trends, and customer needs to inform product strategy and ensure that Docker’s offerings remain competitive and innovative.

  • Work closely with peers in product development to ensure that the platform we build meets the needs of our users, and to align on key product goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in product marketing or product management roles, with a focus on software products/developer tools

  • Familiarity with Jobs-to-Be-Done (JTBD) framework, ABM strategies, and solution selling methodologies.

  • Proven experience in software supply chain security, container security, and cloud native application development

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to analyze complex market trends and customer needs

  • Experience with data analysis or market research techniques (e.g., survey design, market segmentation)

  • Ability to create compelling product marketing content

  • Experience with public speaking or presentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively across a broad range of team environments

  • Experience with collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Airtable, Asana, Miro)

  • Ship your first customer-facing asset.

What to expect in the first 90 days:

  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships, including effective working relationships with various teams, including engineering, product, design, sales, and customer success, to ensure that marketing strategies are aligned with business objectives and priorities.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the product and target audience, including a comprehensive understanding of the product’s features, benefits, and unique value proposition, as well as the needs and workflows of the target audience.

What to expect in the first year:

  • Define and execute Jobs-to-Be-Done (JTBD) frameworks for software supply chain solutions, identifying key customer pain points, desired outcomes, and solution opportunities.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, sales, and marketing teams to shape value propositions, refine messaging, and prioritize solution development.

  • Ensure our offerings align with market needs, drive customer adoption, and address critical challenges such as security, compliance, and risk management in the software supply chain.

  • Continuously analyze customer feedback, competitive insights, and industry trends to refine our approach and enhance solution positioning.
