Data Curation Operations is a product operations team which supports all ongoing curation projects for Mapping and other teams at Lyft. Our mission is to improve customer experience in Lyft products by providing high-quality, comprehensive, and efficient data curation operations. We’re looking for an experienced Program Manager to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement within the Places Data & Search team. This customer-obsessed leader is highly organized, proactive, detail oriented and a top-notch communicator, experienced in wide scale program and project management. You set the bar for process excellence and continuous improvement, and you have a strong bias towards action in optimizing efficiency and quality of curation operations. You have demonstrable experience leading cross-functional work within a matrixed organization to drive impact.

Reporting to the Head of Data Curation Operations, you will be responsible for a large recursive team focused on maintaining, curating, and improving the Places Data and Search experience on the Lyft app. Your direct reports will include Team Leads and Functional Leads whose responsibilities span people management, vendor partner management, quality, policy creation, and training. You will serve as the critical point of conduct between operations and our engineering, product, and data science stakeholders.

If you have experience successfully managing multiple simultaneous projects, driving cross-functional work in a dynamic and matrixed environment, and a servant-leader mentality, we’d like to talk with you.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for data curation services within the Places Data & Search domain, aligning with overall Mapping and Lyft objectives
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements and quality control measures to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of curation operations
  • Manage a large recursive task-based operations team, including up to 7 direct reports, focused on maintaining, curating, and improving the Places Data and Search experiences on the Lyft app
  • Manage a portfolio of multiple simultaneous projects, effectively prioritizing work and delegating to team members as appropriate
  • Create and maintain project plans, roadmaps, and timelines for data curation initiatives, ensuring timely execution and delivery of milestones
  • Oversee small-scale vendor partner operations related to data curation, ensuring adherence to quality standards, service level agreements, and cost-effectiveness
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships, leveraging insights to inform partner decisions
  • Proactively identify and communicate project risks, blockers, and dependencies, advocating for resources and developing mitigation strategies to maintain operational effectiveness
  • Set performance expectations for the team; provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews, and foster a positive and inclusive environment where team members feel valued

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 3–5 years experience in Operations, Program/Project Management, or Customer Support
  • At least 2 years of experience in managing and leading teams, including performance management, coaching, and talent development
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement methodologies and project management best practices
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of change and ambiguity. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Customer-centric approach with a track record of exceeding expectations
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, ideally including engineering, product, and data science
  • Strong leadership skills with a servant-leader mentality and a focus on team empowerment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement improvements
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt your communication style to work with team members from all corners of the organization

Nice to have

  • PMP or Lean six-sigma certifications
  • Experience with mapping, GIS, cartography or any related fields. Experience using Open Street Map.
