About the role

As a Senior QA Manager, you define, scope out and lead a long-term effort to solve large meaningful problems for Careem. You have demonstrated your ability to take ownership of a vaguely defined major business problem or product vision, translating it into executable technical design and roadmaps to solve the problem or realize the product vision. You have demonstrated you can subdivide the work into monthly/quarterly sprints and compartmentalize across functions or teams and ensure everyone knows how they fit in. Your technical skills allow you to go very deep or broad in solving classes of problems or creating broadly leverageable solutions. You have demonstrated you can work across a group to deliver results and are recognized for your high quality communication and coordination abilities. You provide oversight and direction to various engineers working across different efforts.

What you’ll do

  • Manage a quality team of 8-12 members to implement high quality standards for design and deployment of software, support a highly scalable, easy to maintain, Infrastructure platform and design for users and content 360. Support the Engineering, Infrastructure, Data & AI and Analytics team.
  • You will define and implement the quality strategy for the team and co-lead the roadmap to deliver high quality products and world-class user experiences. You will institutionalize a Quality driven mindset at every level of the product development lifecycle.
  • You will work with different stakeholders at a senior level and engage proactively with all Careem engineering leads in different domains across our Food and Groceries businesses.
  • You will help strengthen the tech culture at Careem as a tech culture champion, and you will help attract talent and grow the Careem engineering brand by publishing technical blogs and participating in tech conferences.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Experience with backend acceptance testing tools (e.g., Tavern, Postman).
  • Exposure to chaos engineering and load testing concepts.
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Bitrise, and cloud deployments.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture

Preferred qualifications

10+ years of prior experience working as Quality Assurance Manager  role as well as managing customer/client-facing projects

  • Experience in testing strategies and best practices for software development life cycle
  • Experience in state of the art test automation frameworks and methodologies for mobile and backend systems
  • Experience in designing and maintaining internet facing production-grade applications in distributed virtualized or containerized environments
  • A Computer Science degree, equivalent qualification or practical experience

Desirable

  • Experience or interest in AI-driven testing tools or approaches (AI test generation, defect prediction)
  • Awareness of shift-left testing principles, actively promoting early-stage QA involvement in software delivery.
  • Practical knowledge and experience of automation; Appium, Cucumber, Espresso, JMeter, Postman, Rest-assured, Selenium, Tavern, XCUI
  • Practical knowledge and experience of continuous integration; Cruise Control, Hudson, Jenkins and GitHub Actions
  • Practical knowledge and experience of distributed version control system; GIT, Mercurial
  • Practical knowledge and experience of testing in the “cloud” environment
  • Practical knowledge and experience with test management tools
  • Practical knowledge and experience of DevOps
