Job description

Company Description

Whether you’re working from home or on your way to the office, chances are you’re probably reading this because you’re seeking a new adventure, or you’re up for a new challenge. GROW Inc might just be that for you!

So, who is GROW Inc?

Founded in 2016, we’re the Australian FinTech success story you probably haven’t heard about. We’re solving big problems in the Superannuation and Managed Funds industry. The administration platforms (the software that tracks everything to do with your super) are built on things you or your parents would recognise from the glory days of 90’s computing.

How are we doing it?

We’re solving this by disrupting the wealth management industry with DLTA, our platform built on Distributed Ledger Technology which improves the financial wellbeing of Australians. We’re making Super more timely and information more accessible whilst enabling wealth management companies to offer more cost effective solutions.

We’re rebels with a cause. We’re authentic, diverse, and embrace our differences as we continue to put a dent in the universe. We know diversity of thought helps us to build better solutions for our customers which is why we encourage the entire GROW team to bring their whole selves to work each and every day.

Job Description

Engineering @ Grow Inc.

We are passionate technologists with an appreciation for clean code and fault tolerant systems. Our team is distributed across Australia and the Philippines, with engineers collaborating across regions. We believe in leveraging different perspectives and backgrounds because that makes our team and product stronger.

We look for teammates who are:

  • Curious and aim to understand things deeply.

  • Advocates for best practice.

  • Respectful and inclusive.

  • Comfortable sharing the grunt work.

What you will do

  • Use a data driven approach to:

    • Decide what needs to be manual vs automated.

    • Improve our QA process and practices.

  • Build and own self-service testing platforms and tools to empower teams to test their code effectively and efficiently. E.g. frameworks for functional, performance, and resilience testing.

  • Augment engineering teams and help them uplift their quality practices using the frameworks you build.

  • Write clean code, perform code reviews and produce documentation.

  • Advocate for and implement CI/CD practices that integrate quality checks into every stage of the software delivery pipeline.

  • Drive a shift-left approach by embedding quality practices early in the development lifecycle, enabling faster feedback and reducing defects downstream.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify test scenarios and acceptance criteria that align with the quality strategy.

  • Drive operational excellence by contributing to run books, incident response protocols, and reliability improvement initiatives.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve our software engineering practices.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge across product, design and engineering.

Qualifications

  • A healthy curiosity, autonomy and a strong sense of accountability.

  • Strong desire to perform and grow as an engineer.

  • Demonstrated technical initiative and a penchant for clean code.

  • 4+ years of experience of testing complex applications.

  • Fluency in a modern programming language. We use Typescript.

  • Strong experience in test automation of UI using frameworks like Playwright (or similar).

  • Strong experience in test automation of API and Event driven services.

  • Strong experience with modern CI/CD processes and related tools like BuildKite.

  • Good knowledge of:

    • Cloud architecture principles.

    • Microservices and resiliency patterns.

  • Experience with performance testing tools like k6, Artillery or Gatling.

  • Experience working with AWS.

  • Experience working with databases (SQL or NoSQL).

  • Experience working with containerisation tools such as Docker.

  • Experience working with observability tools like Elastic or Sentry.

  • Experience working with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.

Nice to have

  • Experience with performance testing of web applications.

  • Experience with Chaos Engineering.

If you think you have what it takes but don’t meet every point described above, please still apply! We’d love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit.
