About the Role, Mission or Department Overview

Wirecutter is looking for a Senior Analyst to use data and analytics to support world-class journalism in delivering on our vision to be the most trusted and loved service for figuring out what products to buy. The Senior Analyst will work with the newsroom and audience teams, delivering powerful tools and analyses that unlock insights into audience growth and engagement. We need someone with a strategic and tactical mind to translate complex data into applicable recommendations that directly influence our editorial, product, and overall business strategies. This is a remote position with the option to work from our offices in New York City. You will report into the Senior Manager, Data and Analytics, Wirecutter.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct deep-dive analysis that answers audience, content, and business questions and provides applicable, data-driven insights

  • Communicate findings and translate them into recommended actions appropriate for each area of the business

  • Democratize data and insights with data visualizations/dashboards and tools to improve access to data

  • Proactively identify opportunities for applying data to solve complex business problems, optimize performance, and inform strategic decisions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in SQL

  • 3+ years experience in analytical roles

  • 3+ years experience with data visualization tools

  • 2+ years experience of collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • 2+ years experience with applying statistics to business problems

  • 2+ years experience with A/B testing

  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience with Google BigQuery or other big data environments

  • 2+ years experience with e-commerce and publisher analytics

  • 2+ years experience with audience and engagement analytics

  • 2+ years experience with Python & R

  • 2+ years experience with AI data products and large language models

  • 2+ years experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Chartio, or Looker

The annual base pay range for this role is between:

$101,000β€”$110,000 USD
