Job description

M Booth Health Careers

About Us:

We’re not your typical agency. In fact, we don’t want to be. At M Booth Health, we take pride in doing what’s right, not what’s easy. Asking the difficult questions and finding unexpected answers. Pushing ourselves and our clients to think bigger. Moving beyond imposed limits to break through and create real connection.

We live our brand promise: Choose to Challenge. We’re built to help organizations and brands challenge norms, drive results and improve the health and lives of those who need it most.

We believe health communications can change the world. Why? Because we’ve done it before. We’ve been at the forefront of advancing some of the most urgent issues in public health and medicine for decades. Our teams are purpose-built to challenge the status quo and drive results–both for our clients and for the health and well-being of people around the world.

M Booth Health is a dynamic team of agency veterans and new talent with a broad range of backgrounds to match our diverse client mix, which is comprised of leaders in pharma, biotech, device & diagnostics, health tech and payors.

FREELANCE SR ART DIRECTOR

What You’ll Bring:

We want people who are just as passionate about health as we are. People who are serious about the work, but not too serious to have some fun while doing it. Candidates who bring big thinking and even bigger ambition. Who are willing to push boundaries and challenge norms. And most importantly, who leads with kindness and humanity above all else. Does that sound like you?

For this role, we’re looking for someone that is all about making great creative, no matter how big or small the assignment. As our Freelance Senior Art Director, you must be an art and design maven and a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit. You’re not just an art director or designer in this role - you’re a creative with a strategic and conceptual mind. You can think big but still have an eye for design details and deadlines. You’ll work closely with a team of passionate advocates, scientists, ideators and storytellers to develop campaigns and content that truly make a difference. And as a part of a dynamic team, you must have a passion for agency life, be a great team player, and have the ability to juggle and prioritize. Oh and of course, you absolutely must have a hunger for doing the next great thing.

You’ll report to the Creative Director and work closely with a small creative team to bring ideas and client work to life. You’ll work across multiple clients as well as new business and pro bono efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with the creative and strategy teams to ideate, develop and execute integrated health campaigns across platforms, including social, digital, video, experiential, and brand identity.
  • Pick up smaller design-centric projects from time to time - we’re a small team and all help each other out, this role is no different.
  • Work will also include developing and/or adhering to – and thriving within – different brand guidelines.
  • Manage multiple jobs simultaneously, working seamlessly with multiple teams, as well as managing and providing direction to junior team members.
  • Work in concert with a wide range of specialists including media, scientific communications, studio, project management and more.
  • Join and participate in team meetings, brainstorms, planning sessions and more to drive client business.
  • Be client facing, including preparing and presenting creative presentations, follow and integrate feedback, and deliver against team deadlines.
  • Be a nice human who is collaborative, hard-working and dedicated to helping make the world better for people impacted by disease.

Requirements

  • 5 - 7 years of art direction/design experience in an agency setting (PR, social media or creative agency)
  • Must have experience in the pharmaceutical space – and a keen interest in the healthcare space as a whole
  • Creativity is a must - we aren’t just looking for an art director. We are looking for an idea generator. One that has a curious mind, loves to solve problems with ideas that work. And who of course can make them come to life with beautiful breakthrough visuals.
  • Some client-facing experience is a must, should be comfortable presenting and articulating work and providing counsel to clients as needed
  • Must love social! Must have art and design experience across different platforms and understanding of what makes truly stand out work that travels
  • Must be able to work quickly and efficiently (at the speed of social)
  • Experience across different media and platforms, including video, print and digital design (including branding, layout, mockups, signage, infographics, presentations, and other collateral).
  • Able to adopt an “always learning” mentality and spirit, and stay on top of (and incorporate) new trends and techniques applicable to the creative function.
  • Ability to partner with and inspire a small team of designers to ensure the best possible visual outputs are created
  • Expert in the Adobe Suite of programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Powerpoint and Google Slides.
    • Working knowledge of Figma and AfterEffects is a bonus

A few things to know as you’re applying:

  • Team is everything. We pride ourselves on being ego-less (or close to it). If you like being part of a supportive and selfless group of people, you’ll fit right in.
  • Intellectual curiosity is rewarded, even more than raw intelligence. If you love to read, consume media, tinker and make cool things, we’d love to chat.
  • We take our jobs very seriously, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously. Be ready to have some fun and participate in a lively, collaborative, and passionate agency culture.
