We’re looking for an exceptionally talented Senior Concept Artist to help us explore, create, and deliver world-leading innovation in software and VR hardware. With our first title nearing release and a second in early planning stages, it’s a great time to join our fully remote, VR-first studio.
In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D conceptual artwork that defines and enhances the visual direction of our games. You’ll play a key role in shaping the aesthetic of our projects, from early ideation through to final key art, while mentoring junior artists and collaborating across disciplines.
The rundown:
12-month fixed term contract
Full time (37.5 hours per week)
Fully remote within the UK
Salary is competitive and dependent on experience
Key responsibilities:
Translate the Art Director’s vision into clear visual concepts, moodboards, and key art that define the game’s tone and style.
Create high-quality concept art for characters, environments, props, and storyboards across various genres and styles.
Conduct visual research to ensure authenticity, readability, and alignment with player expectations.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure visual storytelling supports gameplay and narrative goals.
Develop visual development packages and style guides to support 3D artists and maintain consistency.
Mentor junior artists, provide constructive feedback, and help grow the concept art function.
Stay current with industry trends and tools, introducing innovative techniques to enhance the art pipeline.
The skills you’ll need:
Strong foundational art skills: composition, lighting, anatomy, color theory, and perspective.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other industry-standard tools.
Experience with Wacom/Cintiq tablets and familiarity with VR hardware.
Ability to iterate based on feedback and self-critique.
Some graphic design knowledge is a plus (layout, typography, etc.).
Understanding of game engines like Unreal Engine is beneficial.
The nice to haves:
Experience mentoring or managing junior artists.
Portfolio showcasing a range of styles and high-quality concept work.
