About the Position
We are looking for an exceptional DevOps Engineer who is passionate about designing and building digital financial services products to help drive our rapid growth.
Our software engineers are experts in the field of software engineering. Through their experience, they can take technical leadership and set technical directions and priorities. Solid communication skills enable them to consistently explain their decision-making reasoning to their team members and a broader audience inside our organization. They can establish, manage, and guide expectations, and their thorough knowledge of software development allows them to provide guidance and show us a path of continuous growth.
You will be part of an agile and distributed software development team. You will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our cloud environment while possessing expertise in relational database administration and security. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our infrastructure.
Qualifications and Experience
- +7 years of experience as a DevOps engineer focussing on managing and optimizing cloud environments.
- +5 years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Thorough experience with containerization technologies.
- Thorough experience with building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, or others.
- Thorough experience with scripting and automation with Bash.
- Solid understanding of DevOps methodologies and best practices, as well as networking concepts and security protocols.
- Strong expertise in relational database administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and database security.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical team members.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently as part of a distributed team.
Nice to have
- Experience with infrastructure provisioning tools like Terraform, AWS CDK, or Cloudformation.
- Experience with network tools such as iptables, traceroute, ping, nmap, netstat, or tcpdump.
- Experience with provisioning tools like Chef, Ansible, puppet, salt, and others.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of cross-platform issues.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Passion for company-wide security, with a strong desire to promote and implement security best practices across the organization.
- Passion for taking responsibility and driving growth in a product company.

- We are a globally distributed engineering team and we all work remotely.
- This position is a permanent, full-time (40h/wk) role.
- Our engineering team is spread worldwide and we work most of our hours overlapping with the German time zone (+/- two hours)
- We have an office in Freiburg, Germany where we meet at least twice a year for a team event.
