Senior HR Business Partner Growth & Technology

💰 $135k-$150k

Job description

About us

Pomelo Care is a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, engineers and problem solvers who are passionate about improving care for moms and babies. We are transforming outcomes for pregnant people and babies with evidence-based pregnancy and newborn care at scale. Our technology-driven care platform enables us to engage patients early, conduct individualized risk assessments for poor pregnancy outcomes, and deliver coordinated, personalized virtual care throughout pregnancy, NICU stays, and the first postpartum year. We measure ourselves by reductions in preterm births, NICU admissions, c-sections and maternal mortality; we improve outcomes and reduce healthcare spend.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to join our People Team and serve as the strategic partner to our Growth & Technology functions. Reporting to the VP of People, you will be responsible for enabling leaders and teams to thrive by aligning people strategies with business goals, building a strong culture of belonging, and driving organizational performance as we scale. You’ll combine business acumen with deep HR expertise to deliver solutions in areas including performance management, organizational design, talent development, employee relations, and change management—always with our mission and values at the center.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees at all levels, providing thought partnership, coaching and data-driven insights to inform people strategies aligned to the needs of the business.
  • Partner with leaders to navigate organizational change with minimal impact to employee retention and business operations through effective decision-making, documentation, and communication approaches.
  • Drive performance review and calibration cycles for your organization, ensuring the process is equitable, transparent and creates actionable feedback that drives change
  • Practice a continuous improvement approach to Business Partnering; gather and analyze both quantitative (HR KPIs, engagement surveys) and qualitative feedback (stay interviews, exit interviews, hiring retrospectives) to identify opportunities & implement solutions in our people processes end-to-end
  • Lead efforts to establish and build on learning and development opportunities for employees, including career laddering & leveling guides, internal growth pathing, and upskilling programs.
  • Anticipate the needs of the organization and proactively identify areas of opportunity across workforce planning, role design, career development, building skills within the team, and others.
  • Guide managers in handling complex employee relations matters, in partnership with the VP of People and Legal counsel, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the broader People team on cross-functional initiatives aligned to department or company objectives.
  • Approach all matters with respect and discretion, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

What you bring

  • 6+ years of progressive People/HR experience, including at startup or high-growth organizations.
  • 3+ years in a Business Partner or strategic People Partner role; proven success in driving business outcomes through the design & implementation of people strategies
  • Experience partnering with tech & growth teams in a remote-first, distributed environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and data-oriented, leveraging qualitative & quantitative to inform action
  • Impeccable sense of judgement; experience navigating complex & ambiguous situations independently or in close partnership with Legal stakeholders
  • High EQ paired with an effective toolkit for coaching, facilitation, & influencing across individual contributors, mid-level managers, and senior leaders
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills; experience developing clear & inclusive policies, standard operating procedures, & change management resources
  • Comfort navigating a wide range of HR compliance & employee relations needs, including accommodations, engagement survey action plans, internal mobility, investigations, leaves, and performance management programs.

Why you should join our team

By joining Pomelo, you will get in on the ground floor of a fast-moving, well-funded, and mission-driven startup where you will have a profound impact on the patients we serve. And you’ll learn, grow, be challenged, and have fun with your team while doing it.

We strive to create an environment where employees from all backgrounds are respected. We value working across disciplines, moving fast, data-driven decision making, learning, and always putting the patient first. We also offer:

  • Competitive healthcare benefits
  • Generous equity compensation
  • Unlimited vacation

At Pomelo, we are committed to hiring the best team to improve outcomes for all mothers and babies, regardless of their background. We need diverse perspectives to reflect the diversity of problems we face and the population we serve. We look to hire people from a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, religion, disability, and veteran status.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, variable compensation, benefits, and other opportunities at Pomelo Care. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Pomelo Care is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $135,000-$150,000. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
