(Senior) Shopify Architect (m/f/div)
DEPT® – Zurich, Berlin, Hamburg or remote within Europe (position includes travel)

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the architecture and implementation of advanced Shopify setups – headless or classic, local or global. You’ll bring your knowledge to projects, pitches, and our platform strategy, working closely with developers, UX designers, strategists, and client service teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- You design complex Shopify architectures – from data modelling and theme structures to API integrations and middleware layers.
- You advise clients on technical decisions and translate business requirements into scalable, future-proof solutions.
- You lead implementation and provide technical direction to interdisciplinary project teams.
- You evaluate and integrate new Shopify capabilities (e.g. Shopify Functions, Hydrogen, Oxygen) and proactively drive innovation within the team.
- You document best practices, help evolve our Shopify standards, and mentor other developers.
- You support pre-sales activities, assess technical feasibility, and help identify the best solution for each client.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 2+ years of developing with Shopify and the broader Shopify ecosystem (Liquid, Storefront API, Admin API, etc.)
- 5+ years of working with modern frontend stacks(e.g. React, Vue) and familiarity with commerce architectures
- working proficiency in German(C1) and English(C1)
- readiness to travel on a (bi-)monthly basis
- experience with complex commerce projects (taking ownership from discovery to delivery)
- a strategical thinker; you can zoom out to see the big picture, and zoom in to solve deep technical challenges
- experience with client-facing situations and collaboration across disciplines
