We are currently seeking a dedicated Shipping Recruiter (Independent Contractor) to join our dynamic team. As an Independent Shipping Recruiter, you will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, and placing qualified candidates across various shipping roles. By utilizing your industry knowledge, networking skills, and innovative recruiting strategies, you will connect top talent with leading companies in the shipping sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Acquisition: Finding new customers for a business. It involves creating awareness, generating leads, and converting them into paying customers.

  • Client Engagement: Develop strong relationships with clients in the shipping industry to understand their hiring needs and deliver tailored recruitment solutions.

  • Candidate Sourcing: Utilize various channels to identify and engage potential candidates, including job boards, social media, and industry events.

  • Screening & Assessment: Evaluate candidates’ qualifications, experience, and suitability for specific roles through thorough interviews and assessments.

  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging talent, and competitive dynamics within the shipping sector to provide valuable insights to clients.

  • Interview Coordination: Organize and prepare candidates for interviews, ensuring they are well-informed and confident.

  • Relationship Management: Foster strong relationships with both candidates and clients, ensuring a positive recruitment experience for all parties.

  • Performance Reporting: Provide regular updates and insights to the Substance team regarding candidate pipelines, trends, and recruitment challenges.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in recruitment, preferably within the shipping, logistics, or maritime industries.
    • Proven track record of successfully placing candidates in shipping-related positions.
  • Skills:

    • Strong networking abilities and the capability to build and maintain professional relationships.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Proficiency with recruitment tools, databases, and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
    • Analytical skills to evaluate candidates’ fit for roles effectively.
  • Knowledge:

    • In-depth understanding of the shipping and logistics industry, including key roles, responsibilities, and trends.
    • Familiarity with shipping regulations and workforce dynamics.
  • Attributes:

    • Self-motivated and results-driven individual with a strong work ethic.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote setup.
    • A passion for connecting talent with opportunities in the shipping sector.
