Position Summary:
The Software Developer in Test (SDET) will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through the design, implementation, and execution of automated test suites. They will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and quality assurance and automation engineers to identify test requirements, develop robust test frameworks, and maintain a high level of test coverage. The SDET will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive the adoption of best practices in test automation, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our testing processes.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites to validate software functionality, performance, and scalability. (15%)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and translate them into comprehensive test plans and test cases. (10%)
- Identify and prioritize areas for test automation and implement efficient and effective automation solutions. (5%)
- Execute automated tests, analyze test results, and identify root causes of failures, working closely with developers to resolve issues. (40%)
- Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance overall
product quality and team productivity. (10%)
- Participate in code reviews, providing feedback on code quality, testability, and
(5%)
- Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in software testing/test
automation and contribute to the adoption of new tools and technologies. (10%)
- Actively participate in Agile development practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. (5%)
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
- At least four (4) to six (6) years of relevant SDET experience.
- Experience with Playwright Automation Framework or similar
- Ability to show advanced proficiency of a relevant programming language (Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Go, and/or Python).
- Effective technical leadership abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to step up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said.
- Ability to develop people to meet both their career goals and the organization’s goals.
- Ability to operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear.
- Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
- Ability to actively seek new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development challenges.
Required Education & Certifications:
- B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience.
Compensation:
- Qualified candidates can expect a compensation range of $115,000 to $130,000 or more depending on experience.
