The Technical Lead is a senior individual contributor who combines deep technical expertise with hands-on execution. They actively write code, take ownership of end-to-end feature delivery, and are involved in architectural and design discussions. They also conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions aligned with the product vision and goals. As a key technical leader within the team, this role offers a strong pathway for professional growth, whether deepening expertise as a highly skilled individual contributor or evolving into engineering management.

As a Technical Lead within the Nextiva Platform Tenant Administration & Reporting, you will drive the technical direction and execution of key initiatives across our Administration & reporting needs. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader with a passion for scalable architecture, clean code, developer enablement, and operational excellence.

Who You Are: You are a seasoned full stack technical lead/software engineer with a proven track record of success in building and leading high-performing teams. You possess a blend of technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for building elegant and efficient software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end technical delivery of complex projects from planning and architecture to development, deployment, and support.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to define technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for platform capabilities.
  • Write clean, efficient, scalable, and maintainable code, and establish engineering standards for the team.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers across the team, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Lead design discussions, code reviews, and sprint planning, ensuring alignment on priorities, architecture, and system design.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for cross-team initiatives and guide effective integration of platform components with the broader SaaS ecosystem.
  • Continuously improve the team’s DevOps maturity, observability, and incident response practices.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure delivery of secure, performant, and maintainable software aligned with business goals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8-10+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership or team lead capacity.
  • Deep proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and backend service development in distributed, cloud-native environments.
  • Proven experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar streaming platforms.
  • Expertise in designing scalable and resilient microservices, REST APIs, and internal platform services.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, caching strategies, and system performance tuning.
  • Solid understanding of engineering quality practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and code coverage.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience leading cross-functional platform or infrastructure teams in high-growth SaaS environments.
  • Exposure to front-end technologies such as React and TypeScript, and willingness to lead full-stack efforts when needed.
  • Strong system design skills and the ability to evaluate trade-offs in scalability, security, maintainability, and performance.
  • Experience fostering engineering growth through 1:1 mentorship, peer learning, and review processes.
  • Track record of delivery excellence, balancing velocity with stability and long-term maintainability.
