The Technical Business Analyst plays a critical role in bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, particularly within data-driven initiatives. This role focuses on embedding best data management practices, supporting business and technical requirements gathering, and ensuring smooth adoption of new data tools and processes.
This position reports to the Data Governance & Enablement Manager within Enterprise Data based in Melbourne, Australia. Your contribution will enhance the speed and quality of data solutions, leading to better client insights, trusted data, and self-service access to near real-time information.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
- Promote best practices in data management across teams.
- Model and document business and technical processes, recommending improvements.
- Develop solution designs (data flows, process maps, data models, and dictionaries).
- Ensure scalability, reusability, and consistency in documentation.
- Lead documentation standards and best practices.
- Support change management, including training and impact assessments.
- Conduct data analysis to improve quality, consistency, and optimization.
- Communicate findings to stakeholders in clear, actionable insights.
- Build subject matter expertise in key data and system areas.
About you
- You have over five years of experience in data roles, ideally within Financial Services or FinTech. Data governance is second nature to you, with a strong grasp of frameworks like DAMA DMBoK or DCAM. You’re hands-on in at least two key areas, whether it’s ensuring data quality, securing sensitive information, integrating systems, or refining data models.
- Cloud technologies, particularly AWS, are familiar territory, and SQL is a tool you wield with confidence. You understand the intricacies of ETL processes, data mapping, and integration, making complex datasets work seamlessly.
- Collaboration is key in your approach—you facilitate workshops, engage with cross-functional teams, and translate technical insights into clear, actionable strategies. In fast-paced Agile environments, you thrive, balancing structure with adaptability to drive meaningful data solutions.
