As a Senior Mobile Automation Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring that native, hybrid and mobile web applications are delivered to specification and quality goals by leveraging mobile-first tools, frameworks and programmatic techniques. An ideal candidate for this role matches the following role requirements and carries the below qualities & characteristics.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in QA with at least 3+ years dedicated to mobile test automation across iOS & Android platforms (native, hybrid) and mobile web.
- Strong expertise in WebdriverIO as the primary automation framework, including configuration, custom reporters, service integrations and writing maintainable Page Object Model (POM)-based test suites.
- Strong hands-on experience with Appium 2.x for automating native, hybrid and mobile web applications across iOS and Android platforms, including setup and maintenance of local and cloud-based execution environments.
- Experience writing automation scripts in JavaScript / TypeScript within the WebdriverIO ecosystem.
- Experience designing and maintaining scalable automation frameworks, reusable test utilities, custom commands and reporting integrations.
- Proficiency in executing manual test cases for mobile products under development using test management tools such as TestRail, Zephyr or similar.
- Experience testing mobile web and responsive experiences across real devices and simulators/emulators.
- Experience validating RESTful APIs using Postman, Newman, or equivalent API automation frameworks, including test data validation and contract verification.
- Experience integrating mobile automation suites with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as TeamCity / GitHub Actions etc.
- Experience using cloud device farms such as BrowserStack App Automate, Sauce Labs etc. to achieve broad device and OS coverage.
- Experience testing mobile-specific capabilities such as deep links, push notifications, authentication flows, permissions, offline behaviour and device-specific functionality.
- Experience in estimating, planning and coordinating mobile testing activities for small to medium complexity projects.
- Experience in creating detailed test plans and test cases based on functional and non-functional requirements, including device coverage matrices.
- Exposure to visual regression testing for mobile interfaces using tools such as Applitools Eyes or equivalent solutions.
- Exposure to NFR testing areas relevant to mobile, including performance profiling, battery/memory usage and security scanning using tools such as Android Profiler, Xcode Instruments or OWASP Mobile Security Testing Guide (MSTG).
- Exposure to mobile accessibility testing standards (WCAG 2.x, iOS Accessibility Inspector, Android Accessibility Scanner).
- Familiarity with CMS or headless content platforms (e.g. Contentful, AEM) as part of mobile application technology stacks is a plus.
