We started in 2016, with roots in New Zealand and our headquarters in San Francisco. We make shoes and apparel using natural materials like merino wool, eucalyptus tree fiber, and sugar cane. Our shoe lineup for men and women includes styles like the Wool Runner, Breezer Mary Jane, Trail Runners, Varsity Strap, Varsity Cruiser, Tree Runner NZ, Tree Glider, and Cruiser.

We handle wholesale and international distribution, developing marketing and coordinating trade shows and events. Our operations include pre-season forecasting, inventory management, placing purchase orders, and managing factories.

We use a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Tool to calculate the carbon footprint of our products. We also source wool from Lake Hawea Station, participating in The New Zealand Merino Company’s regenerative wool program, ZQRX.

We believe business can be a force for good. Our mission is to show that comfort, design, and sustainability can coexist, promoting thoughtfulness in fashion. We’re committed to “creating better things in a better way” and are a certified B Corp.

As co-founder Tim Brown said, we founded Allbirds to help nature make a comeback.

Allbirds has between 201 and 500 employees. At its San Francisco headquarters, the company uses a hybrid schedule: employees are in the office Tuesday through Thursday and work remotely Monday and Friday. Some roles are fully remote but require travel to San Francisco once or twice a quarter.

The company encourages collaboration across teams like Finance, Brand, Creative, Go-To-Market, Merchandising, channel leads, warehousing, and logistics. Leaders present to executive leadership, meaning strategic input is important.
