The opportunity
The role is a highly visible, advisor-facing role designed for an experienced trader with a strong core background in equities, ETFs, and options, combined with a working knowledge of fixed income and structured products, and the ability to support those products as part of a broader multi-asset service model. You will act as a trusted partner to RIAs, supporting trading activity across asset classes while navigating different market structures, settlement mechanics, and regulatory considerations. While equities, ETFs, and options represent the primary area of depth for this role, you will also collaborate closely with peers and continue to expand your ability to support fixed income and structured products as the platform grows. This role is well-suited for someone who aspires to leadership, seeks meaningful ownership, and is motivated to help build the future of trading at Altruist. There is a significant opportunity to grow in scope and responsibility over time.
What you’ll do
- Execute and support trades across equities, ETFs, listed options, fixed income securities, structured products, and mutual funds on behalf of RIAs and their clients.
- Provide advisor-facing support for order entry, trade workflows, allocations, settlements, and product-specific considerations across asset classes.
- Assist RIAs with ETF and equity execution, including liquidity considerations, order types, and execution timing.
- Support options trading, including single-leg and multi-leg strategies, margin impact, and execution mechanics.
- Execute and provide baseline support on fixed income trades, including Treasuries, agencies, corporates, municipals, CDs, and structured products such as structured notes and market-linked CDs.
- Coordinate structured product and mutual fund transactions, including subscriptions, redemptions, and operational workflows.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource to advisors on cross-asset tradeoffs, portfolio implementation considerations, and product mechanics.
- Partner with Operations, Compliance, Advisor Support, and Product teams to ensure accurate trade processing, regulatory compliance, and continuous workflow improvement.
- Monitor market conditions across asset classes to proactively identify risks, execution considerations, and advisor support needs.
- Contribute to improving internal trading processes, tools, and service models as Altruist’s platform scales.
What you bring
- FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 required; Series 4 and/or 24 is a strong plus (or willingness to obtain).
- Additional licenses, such as the Series 57 (which must be obtained within 90 days of hire) and the Series 52⁄53 (required depending on primary job function).
- 3–7 years of experience supporting or executing trades across multiple asset classes in a broker-dealer, custodian, or RIA service environment.
- Working knowledge of equities, ETFs, options, fixed income, structured products, and mutual funds, including differing market structures and settlement processes.
- Experience handling margin accounts and understanding margin requirements across asset classes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to support RIAs and explain complex concepts clearly.
- Comfort working cross-functionally and adapting to evolving products and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting RIAs through a custodial or advisor service platform.
- Familiarity with trading and market data platforms such as Bloomberg, Tradeweb, or similar systems.
- Exposure to structured product platforms and alternative investment workflows.
- Understanding of regulatory and supervisory considerations across multiple asset classes.
