Job Description

The Anglo Steelmaking Coal (SMC) Supply Chain team is responsible for the end-to-end management of all procurement activities for SMC, including Category Management, Sourcing & Contracts, Project Procurement and Purchasing.  As a Commercial Advisor, you will provide efficient and effective commercial activities relating to SMC categories that delivers improved business performance through commercial agreements, enabling innovation, supplier partnering and internal stakeholder collaboration.

The team works with SMC corporate and site stakeholders to implement and manage performance of contracts and suppliers, grow the host community supply base and ensure effective supply of goods and services required for operation.

This role will be rewarding, varied and will include:

  • Providing support across the end-to-end procurement process including sourcing, negotiation, post award contract management including amendments, price reviews and benchmarking.
  • Providing support with the development of category strategies though the analysis and gathering of data
  • Embracing an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities
  • Responsible for compiling and executing allocated sourcing events, contracting and contract management (including administration), supplier/contract performance management and initiative management
  • Supporting with the effective execution of contracts administrative duties like price files, variations and amendments
  • Ensuring execution of improvement initiatives to reach and exceed business plans
  • Adherence to commercial standards that will enable delivery in a safe and socially acceptable way and ensure that the organisation sources from responsible suppliers.
  • Responsibility for compiling and executing allocated sourcing events, contracting and contract management (including administration), supplier/contract performance management and initiative management
  • Demonstrate strong independent decision-making skills by evaluating available data and facts to make rational, well-informed choices that support commercial objectives.
  • Support with the effective execution of contracts administrative duties like price files, variations and amendments
  • Actively track commercial dashboard KPIs (e.g., lead times, contract coverage, category/supplier/ contractor performance etc) and proactively address and escalate issues.

Qualifications

  • High level commercial acumen, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Experienced stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and consult across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite. Previous experience using SAP ERP and ARIBA is desirable
  • A proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity
  • Good technical knowledge across the supply value chain
  • Ability to integrate Commercial, Physical Supply Chain Supplier Management & Purchasing sub disciplines
  • Safety & Sustainability as it relates to Supply Chain & Inclusive Procurement
  • Strong commercial and business case development
