This is a contingent position, meaning employment is dependent upon the successful award of the associated contract to Aretum and completion of any required background investigation or security clearance verification.

Job Summary

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, maintenance, governance, and optimization of the database environment supporting a mission-critical information system and its associated sub-applications. This role ensures that database structures, data standards, and backend processes are implemented and maintained in accordance with approved technical requirements, configuration management standards, and federal security policies.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the unification of application and database development frameworks and participating in database migration activities across development, test, and production environments.

  • Designing, building, and maintaining database structures and schemas to support transactional, reporting, and invoicing/payment system components.

  • Managing data structures and data administration procedures to control redundancy and ensure consistency across database environments.

  • Assisting with the design, development, and maintenance of a comprehensive repository for data standards, data models, and data element definitions.

  • Creating and maintaining a data directory that includes an inventory of stored procedures, scheduled tasks, and database scripts.

  • Developing, documenting, and maintaining backend database scripts and processes and storing documentation in a centralized repository.

  • Administering repository rules and coordinating the process for adding, changing, and deleting database objects and information.

  • Ensuring synchronization and consistency between physical databases and repository information.

  • Recommending and implementing database standards, guidelines, and best practices related to data ownership, retrieval, and modification rights.

  • Coordinating with system administrators to ensure database compatibility with development, test, and production environments.

  • Supporting performance tuning, troubleshooting, and resolution of database-related issues.

  • Investigating and resolving developer-reported database problems or performance complaints.

  • Supporting data migration, backup, and recovery activities to ensure data availability and integrity.

  • Assisting with the development of test cases and supporting regression testing activities related to database changes.

  • Participating in user acceptance testing (UAT) activities related to database functionality.

  • Supporting application enhancements by implementing approved schema changes and backend updates.

  • Assisting with data administration workshops and participating in enterprise data administration programs.

  • Providing input into technical recommendations and white papers related to database modernization and optimization.

  • Active Secret clearance (or higher).

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Oracle database administration supporting enterprise or mission-critical information systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience managing Oracle databases across development, test, and production environments.

  • Experience supporting database migration efforts and schema modernization activities.

  • Experience designing and maintaining database schemas, stored procedures, and backend scripts.

  • Experience with database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.

  • Working knowledge of configuration management, version control, and change control processes.

  • Experience supporting data administration standards, repositories, and data governance activities.

  • Experience supporting regression testing, test case development, and user acceptance testing.

  • Familiarity with federal information system documentation requirements and SDLC artifacts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

Travel Requirements

This is a hybrid position, with work performed both remotely and at designated client or corporate locations, as needed. Travel requirements may vary depending on project assignments, client meetings, or internal collaboration and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
