About Armed Services YMCA National Headquarters
The Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) is a 501©(3) military charity, founded in 1861. We are the oldest military support organization in the U.S. We provide free and low-cost specialized programming and support services to military service members and their families, with a focus on junior-enlisted personnel.
We operate 12 branches and partner with military installations and local YMCAs. Through these partnerships, we serve 95 installations and over 200 program centers. We work with the Department of Defense and installation commands to identify support gaps and create programs that meet specific community needs. Each year, our programs reach nearly 240,000 service and family members.
Our programs include childcare and preschool, hospital assistance, spousal and deployment support, and emergency food and essentials. We also offer educational and mentoring programs for military children, like Operation Little Learners and Operation Hero. Other services include counseling, wounded warrior and wounded family support, health and wellness, family and youth recreational activities, and holiday programs such as Operation Ride Home and Operation Holiday Joy. Specific initiatives like Operation Camp, Children’s Waiting Room, and Operation Kid Comfort are also available. Additionally, we support the DoD Military Outreach Initiative, which gives qualified military members and families free gym memberships and respite childcare at YMCAs nationwide.
