We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team. The Senior Tax Accountant will be supporting all aspects of tax planning and compliance, including international, U.S. federal, state, and local taxes, as well as assisting with audited year-end income tax accounting under ASC 740.

This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s direct and indirect tax compliance, processes, and accounting—with a primary emphasis on state and local taxation. This includes state and local filings such as income, sales, occupancy, property, and business taxes. A strong background in state and local tax (SALT) is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate tax filing due dates in the Tax Calendar.
  • Prepare, review, and file indirect (Sales & Use, GRT, Excise) and personal property tax returns across all jurisdictions.
  • Review federal and state income tax returns prepared by outside consultants.
  • Assist with preparation of the year-end tax provision and related footnote disclosures.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts for tax transactions.
  • Respond to tax notices from taxing authorities and prepare audit documentation.
  • Research and analyze the implications of changes in federal and state tax laws.
  • Support year-end close processes, including state apportionment, state adjustments, and current/deferred tax liability calculations.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments and extension calculations.
  • Assist with developing and evaluating planning opportunities.
  • Participate in special strategic tax projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (equivalent professional tax experience may be substituted in lieu of education).
  • 3+ years of relevant tax experience, with strong emphasis on state and local taxation.
  • Professional Certification (CPA, CGMA) or progress toward certification preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with a major ERP system (Oracle preferred).
  • Public accounting experience highly desirable.
  • Experience performing tax analysis for multiple entities and states.
  • Experience in S corporation and partnership income tax return preparation in a multi-state environment preferred.
  • Experience with Avalara or a similar software is a plus
  • Strong work ethic, team player with excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.

Compensation: Aya reasonably anticipates the pay scale for this position to be $105,000 to $130,000 annually.

The pay scale for this position may vary if applicant possesses experience outside of what Aya reasonably anticipates for this position. Bonuses are subject to the role and your manager’s discretion.
