Benchling, founded in 2012, develops software. We offer a cloud-based platform for biotechnology research and development (R&D). Our platform aims to unlock the potential of biotechnology by helping innovative biotech companies accelerate product development.

Our platform helps digitize labs, automate workflows, and increase productivity with AI tools. Key features include a collaborative, cloud-based notebook for planning, recording, and sharing experiments, automated workflows and analytics, and AI tools for efficiency. We support modeling and tracking scientific data for biomolecules, small molecules, cell lines, animals, and reagents, allowing for a unified data model across experiments. The platform is open and flexible, providing out-of-the-box integrations, custom app building capabilities, and connectivity with data from instruments and other software.

We offer solutions for various R&D stages, including Bioresearch, Bioprocess, In Vivo (for accelerating studies with modern data capture), and Connect (for automating, managing, and analyzing instrument data). For enterprise clients, we provide core capabilities for experimental data capture, notebooks, workflows, and automation. We also develop regulatory and audit-focused systems, including components used in FDA submissions and GxP-regulated workflows. These systems ensure data integrity, compliance, auditability, document lifecycle management, exports, and backups. We serve 200,000 scientists, including academics, startups, and over half of the world’s top 50 biopharma companies.

The work environment operates with a flexible hybrid arrangement, with some roles typically expecting on-site collaboration three days per week. Occasional travel to headquarters or customer sites may be required depending on the role.
