Job description
At BETA Technologies, we apply our intellectual curiosity, passion for aviation, and commitment to sustainability toward a shared mission of revolutionizing electric aviation. Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.
The Platform Product Team Lead will coordinate our Developer & Cloud Platform team in creating innovative, scalable solutions that empower software teams to deliver solutions more efficiently and securely. This hybrid role combines product ownership and people management, where you’ll own the “what and why” of platform products, roadmap development, and team leadership. You’ll be spending time on deep customer discovery, ruthless prioritization, and supporting people development. Partnering closely with a team full of technical leaders who own architecture and implementation, you’ll create self-serve platform products with robust guard rails that enable software teams to develop and operate tools with autonomy. We’re seeking someone who can earn the team’s respect through technical credibility while excelling at product sense and people leadership, ultimately delivering comprehensive platform solutions that accelerate software delivery.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for development and cloud platform services or tools, ensuring alignment with BETA’s engineering and business objectives
- Treat platform services and tools as distinct product offerings with clear value propositions
- Make prioritization decisions and handle escalations across competing demands, balancing quick wins with long-term strategic investments that result in self-service tooling to abstract complexity away from customers
- Support the team through regular 1:1s, performance feedback, career development, and hiring
- Partner closely with the team on architecture and technical strategy, ensuring product and technical decisions are aligned
- Conduct regular user research and gather feedback from internal development teams to prioritize platform improvements
- Manage the product lifecycle of platform services, including strategy, development, and retirement
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated product management skills including defining product strategy, conducting user research, and driving outcomes over outputs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to articulate technical concepts and product strategy to diverse audiences
- Experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or similar teams
- Experience leading people, whether as a people manager, tech lead, or similar role with responsibility for others’ growth and performance
- Technical understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Strong understanding of platform engineering principles (IaC, CI/CD, Observability) and the ability to articulate their value to stakeholders and decision makers
- Comfortable with autonomy and accountability - ownership of outcomes, not just delivery of features
Above and Beyond Qualifications:
- Expertise in establishing platform guardrails to support security, observability and operations of a broad range of solutions delivered by autonomous teams
- Experience leading a team of technical leaders amplifying their impact and influence across an organization as scope and complexity increase
- Formal product management experience or training, particularly with technical tools or infrastructure products
$120,000 - $150,000 a year
