Job Description
As an Operations Engineer, you are responsible for translating technical requirements into complete, manufacturable designs. You ensure that all product and production documentation is correct, complete, and optimized in terms of cost, manufacturability, and lead time.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preparation
- Review the correctness and completeness of all starting data (specifications, standards, references, and planning).
- Identify missing or unclear information and coordinate corrections.
- Assess planned work and allocated engineering hours; discuss deviations when needed.
2. Execution
- Create and modify designs and order documentation (calculations, manuals, drawings).
- Develop and update production documents.
- Engineer cost‑effectively and propose optimizations.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Release material orders and components.
- Align technical details with customers and certification bodies.
- Evaluate change requests and determine their technical and commercial impact.
- Manage CAD libraries and engineering software tools.
3. Control
- Perform peer reviews of new and modified designs and documentation (four‑eyes principle).
Responsibilities & Impact
- Delivering complete, correct, and optimized designs and order documentation aligned with specifications, standards, non-standard concepts, budget, and lead time.
- Managing CAD libraries and engineering applications.
- Supporting Sales with concept engineering, reviewing specifications, and providing initial sketches and ideas.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge & Skills
Technical Expertise
- Mechanical engineering background.
- Depending on product group: hydraulic design, installation technology, piping, sheet‑metal constructions.
- Materials knowledge (aluminum, steel, cast iron, etc.) including pressure, certification, ATEX, and environmental considerations.
- Production and assembly techniques.
- Standards and regulations relevant to mechanical/hydraulic systems.
Process Knowledge
- Engineering-to-Order processes.
- Lean Assembly, Design for Assembly/Manufacturing.
- Structured problem solving.
Software & Tools
- CREO PDM
- SAP
- Microsoft Office
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (HBO Mechanical Engineering).
- Experience in machine construction, hydraulics, or related industrial sectors is a strong advantage.
