The Data Manager is responsible for overseeing the governance, management and integrity of project data and documentation across complex technical programs. The role ensures effective data management practices, secure information handling and compliance with organisational standards by developing processes, systems and workflows that support the efficient creation, storage, sharing and retrieval of project information.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and maintain data management processes to support the effective sharing, cataloguing, tracking, storage and retrieval of project information and documentation.
- Establish and maintain structured workflows for the submission, review and approval of technical, contractual and project documentation.
- Manage project information and records using enterprise information management systems and collaboration platforms.
- Monitor and analyse information systems and data management practices, identifying opportunities for improvement through system enhancements, process optimisation or new technologies.
- Develop procedures and governance frameworks for secure data sharing with stakeholders, contractors and project partners.
- Provide technical support and training to project personnel in the use of information systems, document management tools and data management processes.
- Conduct needs assessments to determine requirements for new data systems, database enhancements or modifications to existing platforms.
- Implement secure and efficient procedures for data collection, handling, analysis and quality assurance.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, data extracts and information products to support project governance and reporting requirements.
- Resolve data-related issues and coordinate system maintenance, updates or modifications where required.
- Support project governance activities, including the coordination of project meetings, documentation and communications with stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of project management artefacts, management plans, processes and procedures.
- Support broader project functions including engineering, logistics, security and commercial teams where data management expertise is required.
- Assist with procurement activities including review of documentation, evaluation of industry responses and support for contract management processes.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, legislative frameworks and quality management systems.
- Support the preparation of executive briefs, reports, submissions and governance documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, innovation activities and strategic planning across project delivery functions.
What you’ll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in data management or similar roles supporting complex technical or capability development projects.
- Strong experience managing project data, records and documentation across multiple systems and platforms.
- Experience developing document workflows, version control processes and secure information management practices.
- Proven ability to work within complex stakeholder environments and manage competing priorities across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supporting project governance activities, reporting processes and contract management functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate information systems and improve data management practices.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical documentation and governance reports.
- Experience working with enterprise information management and collaboration systems such as document management, records management and project information platforms.
- Understanding of quality management systems and compliance with recognised standards such as ISO 9001.
- Ability to analyse, plan and deliver work to defined timeframes, cost parameters and quality requirements.
