Commercial Manager
Reports to: Vice President of Finance
Annual Salary: $85,000 to $95,000 based on experience
Location: Vancouver, BC
At COBS Bread, we believe in supporting the success and sustainability of our franchise network through strong partnerships, commercial insight, and operational excellence. We are looking for a commercially minded and analytical Commercial Manager to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting franchisee financial performance across the business.
What you will be responsible for:
Financially Critical Bakery Support
- Monitor cash flow and financial performance of at-risk franchisee locations
- Identify financial risks early and support the development of recovery plans
- Track progress against recovery milestones and maintain accurate reporting records
- Support repayment plans for outstanding franchisee debts
- Provide regular financial risk reporting to Finance and Operations leadership
Banking Relationships
- Support relationships with preferred banking and lending partners
- Assist franchisees in navigating financing options and lender connections
- Maintain and update franchisee financing resources and documentation
Franchise Gate Process
- Administer financial assessments within the franchisee gate approval process
- Maintain gate tracking documentation, approvals, and pipeline reporting
- Partner with Franchise Development and Legal teams to support smooth execution of the process
Financial Assessment – New Franchisee Candidates
- Review financial submissions from prospective franchisees
- Assess financial viability, credit profiles, and business plans
- Prepare recommendation reports highlighting financial strengths and risks
- Communicate financial expectations and requirements to candidates
Multi-Site Franchisee Growth Reviews
- Conduct financial reviews for franchisees seeking expansion opportunities
- Assess profitability, debt obligations, and working capital capacity
- Provide recommendations and escalate financial concerns where appropriate
Bakery Issue Reviews with Operations
Partner with Operations teams to review underperforming bakery locations
Provide financial insights and analysis to support action plans
Follow up on agreed actions and track financial outcomes
Other tasks and projects as assigned.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
- MBA and/or CFA designation (or progress toward CFA) considered an asset
- 3+ years of experience in commercial finance, FP&A, or financial analysis
- Experience supporting multi-site operations, retail, hospitality, or franchise environments preferred
- Exposure to lending, credit analysis, or banking relationships is an asset
- Proven experience partnering cross-functionally with Operations and Development teams
- Strong financial analysis and modelling skills
- Commercial acumen with the ability to translate data into operational insights
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- High attention to detail and strong governance discipline
- Advanced Excel and financial reporting capabilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
