Job description
The Track & Trace Specialist is responsible for monitoring all active shipments, ensuring accurate and timely updates from pickup through delivery. This role focuses on maintaining visibility of freight movement, providing proactive communication to customers, and ensuring smooth operational flow within the logistics network.
Key Responsibilities:
Track shipments using TMS, carrier portals, GPS tools, and driver updates.
Collect and record real-time location updates, ETAs, and delivery confirmations.
Communicate proactively with carriers, drivers, and internal teams about shipment status.
Identify potential delays or service issues and escalate them to the operations team immediately.
Update customers with shipment progress and delivery confirmations.
Verify documentation such as BOLs and PODs for completion and accuracy.
Maintain detailed shipment logs and ensure data accuracy within the tracking system.
1+ year of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or trucking operations preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience with TMS software and shipment tracking tools.
Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
Reliable, professional, and customer-focused.
Performance Indicators (KPIs):
On-time tracking update compliance.
Shipment visibility accuracy.
Communication response time.
Customer satisfaction related to shipment updates.
Minimum Technical and Work Environment Requirements:
Internet Connection:
- Primary internet connection with a minimum speed of 15 Mbps.
- Backup internet connection with at least 10 Mbps.
- Backup connection must be capable of supporting work during a power outage.
Primary Device:
Desktop or laptop equipped with at least:
- Intel Core i5 (8th generation or newer), Intel Core i3 (10th generation or newer), AMD Ryzen 5, or an equivalent processor.
- A minimum of 8 GB RAM.
Backup Device:
- Must meet or exceed the performance of an Intel Core i3 processor.
- Must be functional during power interruptions.
A functioning webcam.
A noise-canceling USB headset.
A quiet, dedicated home office space.
