About Cytokinetics
We are a late-stage biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, and commercializes muscle activators and inhibitors. These treatments target debilitating diseases where muscle performance is compromised, such as heart failure, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
For over 25 years, we have specialized in muscle biology, creating small molecule drug candidates that impact muscle function. We started operations in South San Francisco in 1998 and went public in 2004. In 2008, we began focusing our research on muscle biology. Significant clinical progress includes starting a Phase 1 study for a cardiac myosin inhibitor in 2018, announcing results from the pivotal Phase 3 SEQUOIA-HCM clinical trial in 2023, and results from the Phase 3 MAPLE-HCM clinical trial in 2025. In 2024, the FDA accepted our New Drug Application for a potential cardiac myosin inhibitor, and in 2025, we received FDA approval for our first medicine.
We have published over 115 papers, conducted more than 100 clinical trials, and hold hundreds of patents. Our global headquarters is in South San Francisco, CA, with offices in Radnor, PA, Zug, Switzerland, and Dublin, Ireland, plus other European affiliates.
