We are looking for a Principal AI Engineer with a strong ownership mindset and architectural authority to design, build, and operate production-grade AI systems powered by Large Language Models (LLMs).
This role is ideal for a senior technical leader who thrives in ambiguity, makes independent architectural decisions, and takes full accountability for mission-critical AI systems in regulated environments such as healthcare. You will not only build AI-powered features — you will define the technical direction, standards, and long-term scalability of the platform.
- Own the end-to-end architecture, design, and operation of LLM-powered features in production environments.
- Architect and implement scalable RAG-based systems, including vector search, embedding strategies, and document ingestion pipelines.
- Design and develop high-performance Python backend services (async, APIs, distributed systems).
- Lead frontend architecture using React and TypeScript, integrating AI capabilities into real-world user workflows.
- Define cloud-native infrastructure strategy using AWS, Docker, and CI/CD best practices.
- Ensure system scalability, observability, reliability, and security across environments.
- Make independent architectural trade-offs balancing performance, cost, scalability, and maintainability.
- Establish engineering standards and best practices for AI orchestration, evaluation, and governance.
- Design secure integrations across healthcare systems, ensuring HIPAA-aligned data protection practices.
- Proactively identify risks, propose solutions, and execute without requiring detailed guidance.
- Take full ownership of systems from ideation through deployment and long-term evolution.
Desired Profile
Experience & Seniority
- Principal-level experience as a Full Stack or AI Engineer.
- Proven experience delivering LLM-powered products to production (beyond prototypes).
- Experience acting as primary technical decision-maker for complex distributed systems.
- Background in high-impact environments with real users and measurable business outcomes.
Technical Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in Python (APIs, async programming, performance optimization).
- Strong production experience with React and TypeScript.
- Deep hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, evaluation strategies, and AI orchestration frameworks.
- Strong experience designing and operating RAG architectures and semantic retrieval systems.
- Experience with vector databases and embedding lifecycle management.
- Advanced experience with AWS cloud architecture, Docker, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong system design and architectural thinking.
Healthcare, Security & Integrations
- Experience building systems within healthcare or regulated environments is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA and secure data handling best practices.
- Experience integrating APIs and third-party systems in compliance-heavy ecosystems.
- Awareness of intellectual property (IP) and data governance considerations in AI platforms.
Soft Skills
- Strong ownership and accountability mindset.
- Highly autonomous and comfortable making decisions in ambiguous environments.
- Strategic thinker with strong architectural judgment.
