dbt Platform, our rapidly growing SaaS offering, has ambitious goals to enhance its capabilities in the year ahead. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer ll to join our Romania-based engineering team, who are focused on building essential platform features like telemetry ingestion, authorization, and infrastructure-as-code integrations.
The team needs strong engineers to establish our platform evolution strategy. As dbt Platform grows, this person will help design and implement new capabilities from the ground up, ensuring we provide robust integration points for our customers. This co-located team will work closely with the broader engineering organization to deliver scalable solutions.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Evolve dbt’s architecture to keep up with our fast growing customer base and scaling needs
- Be a key contributor to the development of dbt Platform and its telemetry ingestion platform
- Be an advocate for software engineering best practices
- Develop a robust software framework for seamlessly developing application platform features into dbt Platform.
- Collaborate closely with product teams, and other stakeholders.
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Qualifications:
- Have a minimum of 8 years experience as a software engineer
- Experience with at least one of the following technologies: Python, Rust, and/or Go
- Experience with shipping vertical features both individually and as part of a larger team.
- Previous experience with SaaS products (SOA preferred)
- Minimum requirement of Bachelors degree in related field (computer science, computer engineering, etc.)
- Have an excellent level of English, both written and spoken
You are a good fit if you:
- Have strong fundamentals in a variety of software development paradigms (e.g. object oriented, functional)
- Understand trade-offs and are able to articulate the pros and cons of each option
- Have used or want to use AI driven development tactics
- Have worked on distributed systems at scale
- Are comfortable managing ambiguity and driving clarity and innovation
- Understand how to make tradeoffs to ship useful features today without sacrificing long-term quality
- Are highly motivated and able to build alignment across stakeholders
- Can operate independently and unblock yourself when needed
You’ll have an edge if:
- Have extensive knowledge in AI development tactics with successful implementation examples
- Are a Rust subject matter expert
- Have previous experience with Kafka at scale
- Have previous experience with automated testing
- Have experience working on a distributed team
