Job Description
About the Team
We operate billing systems for fixed-line, mobile, and mobile service provider networks. Our team makes sure millions of customers receive correct, high-quality invoices. We also provide central rating, billing, and bill presentment services that support flexible and accurate invoicing — including electronic invoicing (eInvoice).
Right now, we are working on a major modernisation project: merging separate billing systems for fixed-line and mobile into one unified billing platform. This means we are building new solutions, retiring old systems, and continuously improving the customer experience around invoicing.
Your Role
As an Application Manager, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of business-critical billing applications. You are the go-to person for keeping your applications running smoothly — from daily operations and incident handling to security, compliance, and long-term development. You will work closely with system engineers, development teams, and other stakeholders to make sure everything runs reliably and keeps getting better.
What You Will Do
- Application Lifecycle Management – Operate, maintain, and evolve key billing applications
- Incident & Problem Management – Coordinate fast incident resolution, analyse root causes using log files and databases (e.g. MongoDB, Oracle), and drive lasting fixes
- Security & Compliance – Monitor security requirements, act as Security and Privacy Champion for your applications, and stay on top of data protection topics
- Monitoring & Observability – Set up and maintain dashboards (e.g. Kibana) to keep full visibility over application health
- License Management – Manage software licences and communicate with software suppliers
- Change Management – Plan, coordinate, and monitor software deployments and go-lives
- Stakeholder Collaboration – Work with system engineers, partner teams, and business units; participate in the Application Management community
- API & Interface Governance – Contribute to the specification and documentation of REST APIs
- Requirements Analysis – Support the analysis of new requirements to drive continuous improvement of your applications
What We Offer
- A challenging role with real ownership over a diverse application portfolio
- The chance to be part of a large-scale billing modernisation programme
- A supportive community of Application Managers with regular knowledge sharing
- Flexible working arrangements with remote options
Qualifications
Required
- Solid hands-on experience in application management — you know what it means to own and run business-critical applications end to end
- Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and working with log files and databases (e.g. MongoDB, Oracle)
- Good understanding of monitoring concepts and experience with dashboard tools (preferably Kibana)
- Understanding of IT security and compliance requirements in a corporate environment
- Experience in licence management
- Familiarity with REST API specification and documentation
- Languages: fluent German (mandatory) and good English skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud environments
- Experience using JIRA and working in agile teams
- Knowledge of test automation (e.g. Robot Framework)
- Experience with object-oriented analysis and UML
- Background in data security and data privacy
- AWS experience
What Sets You Apart
- You take real ownership of your applications and feel personally responsible for their stability and growth
- You are proactive — you spot potential issues before they become problems
- You communicate clearly and can connect technical teams with business stakeholders
- You enjoy working in a team, bring your own ideas, and are not afraid to challenge the status quo
