We launched Ecosia in 2009 as a search engine that plants trees using our ad revenue. Our 20 million users have helped us plant over 150 million trees worldwide. These trees help restore damaged land, support local communities, protect wildlife, and absorb CO2.

We develop and maintain our search engine for mobile (iOS & Android) and desktop browsers. We aim to offer a modern and intuitive search experience. As a social business in the tech industry, we focus on search engine technology. We also work on search innovations and AI-assisted features, contributing to a more independent European search market, including through our work with EUSP.

We are a social business committed to climate action and positive environmental impact. Our core mission is to use our technology to provide value to users while also achieving our climate goals.

We are a remote-friendly company with a team of 51 to 200 employees, including over 100 international members. We aim for an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative engineering culture.
