Emma – The Sleep Company

Founded in 2015 in Frankfurt, Germany, we started as an online platform to simplify mattress shopping. Today, we operate in over 35 countries as a direct-to-consumer (D2C) sleep brand, with more than 25 stores across Europe. We develop and manufacture sleep comfort products, combining German engineering with Europe-wide manufacturing.

Our mattresses use technologies like Edge-to-Edge Spring Design for stability, support, breathability, and durability. This design also helps minimize our carbon footprint. Other features include AirGrid lattice technology for pressure relief, motion isolation, breathability, and thermoregulation, and Diamond Degree Foam, which uses a graphite coating for optimal temperature regulation. We offer a 100-day free trial for our mattresses. By 2021, we were selling over 200,000 mattresses per month.

Our expertise spans sleep technology, mattress design, ergonomic solutions, and sustainable practices. We also specialize in e-commerce retail, global sleep wellness, and sleep research.

Our mission is to improve people’s sleep and help them understand its importance. We do this by continuously creating products that combine German engineering with Europe-wide manufacturing.

We have over 900 employees, or “Emmies,” representing more than 60 nationalities and speaking over 60 languages. Our teams work across offices in Frankfurt, Lisbon, Manila, Mexico City, and other locations like Paris.

We provide private health insurance and 24 vacation days per year, which increase by one day for each year worked up to a maximum of 29 days. We have a policy allowing 22 remote days per quarter. Our offices are in locations like Parque das Nações in Lisbon.
