Our team provides qualified Accounting and Finance professionals on a temporary and permanent basis across a broad range of industries. GHJ’s relationship with our Global Advisory and Accounting Network provides the resources needed to better understand client’s needs, attract a higher caliber of candidates and assess candidate potential.
A growing manufacturing organization is adding a newly created Assistant Controller role to support continued growth. This is a high-visibility, hands-on position for someone who enjoys being the Controller’s right hand, improving processes, and helping their team scale.

What you’ll be owning
- Day-to-day accounting operations including GL, journal entries, reconciliations, and close
- Managing and developing a small accounting team; reviewing work and keeping deadlines on track
- Supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Supporting audits, tax filings, and related documentation
- Supporting ERP implementation and system upgrades (current system includes AS400)
- Identifying process improvements, strengthening controls, and increasing efficiency
- Stepping into hands-on transactional work when needed
- Partnering cross-functionally and communicating clearly with leadership
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of accounting management experience with experience as an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller
- Manufacturing accounting experience
- Strong technical accounting foundation (GL, close, reconciliations, reporting)
- Experience with ERP implementations or major system upgrades
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate accounting staff
- Comfortable operating at both a high level and in the details
- Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and with leadership
- Thrives in a lean, fast-paced, growth-driven environment
Nice to have (not required)
- Experience working with or migrating from AS400
- Background in scaling or growth-stage organizations
- CPA or CPA-track
$110,000 - $180,000 a year
