Job Description
At GoGlobal, the Manager, Accounting Services is the team lead for a group of Specialists and Associates delivering full-set bookkeeping and accounting services to a portfolio of clients across multiple jurisdictions. You are accountable for the quality and timeliness of your team’s deliverables, the development and performance of your Specialists, day-to-day management of client relationships within your portfolio, and the operational health of the team — including arranging backup and capacity coverage. You are the first technical escalation point for your team and the senior operational point of contact for clients in your portfolio, escalating tax-advisory or complex regulatory matters to the Regional Product Owner (RPO), ATP as appropriate. While the team is based regionally, the function serves clients globally; flexibility on working hours is part of the role to provide adequate time-zone coverage.
Roles & Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and develop a team of Accounting Specialists and Associates, setting clear expectations, allocating work across the team, and balancing capacity, deadlines, and individual development needs.
- Conduct regular performance check-ins, set objectives, identify training needs, and support the professional growth of each team member.
- Arrange backup and continuity coverage across the team so that client service is uninterrupted during leave, illness, or peak periods.
- Build the team’s capability across the jurisdictions GoGlobal supports, including bookkeeping conventions, local compliance requirements, and statutory reporting requirements outside the team’s home region.
Quality Review & Technical Oversight
- Review work prepared by Specialists — full sets of accounts, bookkeeping entries, analytical schedules — for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Serve as the first technical escalation point for the team on accounting, bookkeeping, and compliance questions arising from client work.
- Escalate tax-advisory, complex technical accounting, or unusual regulatory matters to the RPO, ATP.
- Ensure all team deliverables meet GoGlobal’s quality standards, internal controls, and client SLAs.
Client Portfolio Management
- Own day-to-day client relationships across an assigned portfolio of accounts, managing expectations on deliverables, timelines, and scope.
- Serve as the senior operational point of contact for clients on the work GoGlobal delivers, addressing escalations and resolving issues promptly.
- Support new clients onboarding within the portfolio, ensuring smooth transition, embedded processes, and a positive early experience.
- Proactively identify portfolio risks — resourcing pressure, quality concerns, scope creep, client satisfaction — and address them before they escalate.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Drive process improvement within the team, identifying inefficiencies and applying standardised approaches across the portfolio.
- Maintain and continuously improve SOPs, working papers, and process documentation for the team’s recurring work, in line with standards defined by the Global Process Manager (GPM) and approved by the GPO.
- Apply AI-assisted tools and automation thoughtfully within day-to-day accounting work to improve accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround across the portfolio.
- Champion the adoption of new accounting systems, tools, and process changes
Compliance & Audit Support
Ensure all team work complies with applicable accounting standards, GoGlobal internal policies, and jurisdiction-specific compliance requirements.
Support internal and external audits as required — providing accurate working papers, supporting documentation, and accounting context.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
5+ years of experience in accounting, finance operations, or BPO / shared services environments.
2+ years leading or supervising a team of accounting professionals, with demonstrated ability to develop people and manage performance.
Hands-on experience reviewing full sets of accounts and managing a client portfolio.
Strong grasp of accounting principles and ability to handle technical questions at the team-lead level, with sound judgement on what to escalate.
Demonstrated experience managing accounting work across multiple jurisdictions — willingness to learn additional jurisdictions as the portfolio grows.
Proficiency in ERP / accounting systems (Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent); familiarity with automation tooling is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Comfort working with AI-assisted tools and an openness to AI literacy as the function evolves.
Flexibility on working hours — willingness to work occasional extended hours to provide time-zone coverage for clients across regions.
Additional language proficiency is a plus.
Experience in a BPO, shared services, EOR, or outsourced accounting environment is a plus.
