Hi, I’m Jordan Gale, Head of Innovation Labs Value Stream at Hawk-Eye Innovations.
Are you interested in working with the latest technologies in a fast-paced environment, with exciting career opportunities in a growing business?
At Hawk-Eye, we build technology that powers some of the most exciting and critical moments in sport, from instant replays and broadcast augmentation to officiating systems trusted by leagues, federations, broadcasters, and millions of fans worldwide.
Our Innovation Lab is the R&D engine of Hawk-Eye. We explore what’s next, turning experimental concepts into reality. From researching next-generation tracking solutions to prototyping new ways of capturing and processing live sports data, we build the foundations for Hawk-Eye’s future products. You’ll have the opportunity to work across a highly dynamic range of cutting-edge tech, experimenting with real-time data, computer vision, and high-performance architecture before it ever hits the public eye.
We’re looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer with solid C++ skills, a highly curious mindset, and a passion for Research & Development. If you love experimentation, rapid prototyping, and solving complex, open-ended technical challenges alongside a world-class R&D team, this is the place for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Rapid Prototyping: Collaborate with research teams to design, implement, and test proof-of-concepts (PoCs) for next-generation sports tech.
R&D Exploration: Work on diverse, open-ended technical challenges, from benchmarking new algorithms to exploring novel hardware and network protocols.
Write Adaptable C++: Build efficient, robust, and multithreaded C++ applications that can scale from an experimental codebase into production-ready foundations.
Field Testing: Take part in testing new prototypes in real-world environments and supporting early-stage deployments at live sporting events.
Continuous Learning: Actively participate in technical brain-storming sessions, giving you the opportunity to pitch ideas and grow your architectural skills.
What We’re Looking For
Strong C++ Foundations: Good proficiency in modern C++ (C++14⁄17, with an eagerness to work with C++20).
Multithreading & Performance: Experience writing multithreaded code and an understanding of how to optimize for real-time processing constraint.
Core Engineering Tools: Familiarity with tools like Git, Visual Studio, and standard debugging workflows.
An R&D Mindset: A proactive, inquisitive attitude—someone who isn’t afraid of trial and error, enjoys learning new frameworks quickly, and embraces creative problem-solving.
Bonus Points For
Knowledge of graphics/video libraries and frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, OpenGL, Vulkan, FFmpeg, CUDA, or OpenCL).
Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS), machine learning deployment, or real-time data streaming.
A passion for sport or experience working in high-performance, experimental environments.
Hungary Benefits
Annual Leave: Standard according to local labour law.
Flexible Working: Hybrid model (2 days in our Budapest office per week).
Access to sporting events and tickets.
Sony Group Company Discounts.
Other Benefits: Cafeteria options (SZÉP Card, Nursery & Kindergarten contributions, Annual MOL Bubi Pass), Private Medical Insurance, Life & Accident Insurance, MindentMent Dental Clinic discounts, Seniority Awards, and an Employee Assistance Program.
