Overview:
As the Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our SaaS product through a combination of functional manual testing and automated test development. This position emphasizes strong test case planning, defect triage, and prioritization of work to support fast-moving, high-quality releases. The role will provide guidance and support to both individual engineering teams and the broader organization, with a focus on validating functionality across RESTful web services and UI-based application layers, and supporting operations staff through periodic off-hours on-call coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Creation execution and maintenance of automated test cases for RESTful web services for our SaaS product.
- Build and maintain functional, UI-based automation tests for product front-end and user workflows.
- Identify issues impacting CI/CD releasability and support a shift-left QA strategy.
- Design and implement new testing frameworks as well as drive fundamental improvements to existing automation systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define test coverage, quality gates, and release readiness criteria.
- Write, execute, and maintain manual test plans and test cases for features not yet automated or requiring exploratory testing.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure test coverage and execution.
- Lead root cause analysis for defects and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Serve as a mentor to the QA team, and advocate for quality engineering best practices across the various scrum teams.
- Available to provide periodic, off-business hours on-call support to operations staff.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance/test engineering, with demonstrated strengths in test case planning, defect triage, and prioritization of work.
- 5+ years of experience with an API-based test automation framework, such as REST Assured, Playwright, or similar.
- Extensive experience designing and executing functional, manual test cases for a SaaS product.
- Experience building and maintaining both service-layer and UI-based test automation frameworks.
- Experience with Appium-based test automation is a plus.
- Expertise in Java, C#, Python, Go or similar languages required (Java experience preferred)
- Self-directed and effective at collaborating with multiple small engineering teams.
- Able to help deliver product to market with a high degree of customer-focus.
- Willingness to provide periodic, off-business hours on-call support to operations staff.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter with strong integrity, urgency, and results orientation.
- Capable of managing multiple, concurrent, and complex software projects.
- Able to take ambiguous requirements and develop a solid solution.
