Job description
LegalVision is a commercial law firm built for high-performing teams who want to work differently. Through our fixed-fee legal membership, we provide unlimited legal support to SMEs and in-house teams.
Our team uses custom-built technology to deliver fast, high-quality legal support with predictable pricing for clients and rewarding careers for those who work here. With operations across Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, LegalVision offers unique progression pathways, exposure to diverse work at scale, and the opportunity to be part of an innovative law firm recognised as a 5 Star Employer of Choice, a Top 25 Attraction Firm, and Law Firm of the Year.
The Opportunity
At LegalVision, we pride ourselves on our client-centric approach, combining legal expertise with technology to provide efficient, high-quality services to businesses of all sizes.
Due to the ever increasing number of large national and multinational clients we support through our market leading legal membership solution, we are recruiting an experienced commercial lawyer to join our Enterprise team as a Practice Leader in a newly created role. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with leading in-house legal teams and Australia’s biggest companies, acting as a trusted legal advisor.
Our legal membership provides large enterprises and corporate clients with flexible, on-demand legal support that integrates directly with their in-house legal function. Rather than engaging external lawyers on a transactional or hourly rate basis, clients gain access to dedicated LegalVision lawyers who assist with all of their business as usual legal needs. This service allows in-house legal departments to scale their resources efficiently, manage workflow peaks, and access specialist expertise without the commitment of permanent hires. You can learn more about the work we do here!
As a Practice Leader in the Enterprise team, you will work with your team to provide technically excellent, efficient and pragmatic legal support for your clients across a broad range of commercial matters, becoming a trusted advisor and valuable partner.
This is a full time role based in our Sydney office (hybrid working available).
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an extension of clients’ in-house legal teams, providing high-quality, responsive and practical commercial legal advice.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements including supply agreements, distribution agreements, service agreements, sponsorship agreements and licensing arrangements.
- Advise on general commercial matters, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance issues, such as the Australian Consumer Law and Privacy Law.
- Manage multiple client relationships simultaneously, adapting to different business cultures and working styles.
- Collaborate with other LegalVision practice groups to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
- Build strong relationships with in-house counsel and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the legal membership offering.
- Participate in business development activities, including attending GC lunches, sales meetings, conferences, and more.
- Supervise a team of talented lawyers and graduates, ensuring they are constantly learning, challenged, and engaged.
The Ideal Candidate
- Admitted to practise on an unrestricted basis in Australia with at least 8 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Technical expertise: Extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements across various industries and transaction types.
- Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with in-house legal teams and business stakeholders.
- Practical Commercial Advice: A solutions-oriented mindset, strong business acumen, and the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice.
- Adaptability: Ability to quickly understand different people, businesses, industries, and legal requirements and adjust your approach accordingly.
- Leadership: Experience directly managing or supervising junior lawyers; collaborative team builder and player who leads by example and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Benefits
- Get exposure to a diverse range of clients and legal matters, and develop close relationships with your clients.
- Build strong people management and supervision skills.
- Enjoy flexibility, autonomy and working within an incredible team, all while supercharging your career.
- Have the ability to meaningfully contribute to the growth and direction of LegalVision.
- Earn additional ‘LV Leave’ days, plus paid birthday leave, volunteering leave, and parental leave.
- Annual budget to spend on external learning and development.
- Regular team socials, drinks and team lunches.
- Vibrant office environment in Surry Hills super close to Central Station, and flexible work-from-home options.
