About Livestock Information Ltd
We are a technology delivery partner founded in 2019, owned 85% by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and 15% by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB). We are part of Defra’s Livestock Information Transformation Programme (LITP), which is transforming livestock traceability in England. We build and deliver new digital services to manage livestock data and improve movement information.
Our core offering is the Livestock Information Service (LIS). The LIS for sheep was deployed in March 2022, replacing the ARAMS traceability service for sheep, goat, and deer movements in England. We are developing a new LIS cattle service, planned for Summer 2026, to replace the Cattle Traceability Service (CTS) for English cattle notifications. After that, we will replace the eAML2 service for pig movement data. Our goal is to create a single digital movement service for all species in England, making livestock record management easier. We also work with our counterparts in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland to ensure compatible services across UK borders.
We use data analytics, predictions, and reporting to drive innovation, productivity, trade advantages, and resilience across various livestock species. This data helps the industry respond effectively to animal diseases and supports the growth of the meat and livestock industry. We operate in the farming industry, specializing in traceability, livestock, farming, and data. Our technologies include Azure, Microsoft 365, Power BI, C#, Azure Functions, and Web Apps.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to be an outstanding provider of livestock data. We empower government, industry, and farmers to manage disease and infection control effectively, while boosting agricultural productivity and innovation. We aim to maintain livestock traceability by capturing timely, high-quality information that benefits government, industry, and the economy.
Our vision is to establish UK livestock traceability standards through collaboration with Defra and the livestock industry. We do this by prioritizing our people and serving customers according to our values and goals. Our purpose is to use data analytics, predictions, and reporting to drive innovation across the sector. This leads to greater productivity, competitive trade advantages, and improved resilience across multiple livestock species.
Our values are:
- Transparency: We embrace honesty, build trust, communicate openly, set clear expectations, and foster feedback.
