Mast Reforestation

We scale post-wildfire reforestation in Western North America. We pioneer restorative carbon removal by combining resilient forest restoration with durable biomass burial, permanently removing carbon from the atmosphere. Our services address areas challenged by severe wildfires, helping bring lost forests back and reduce post-fire hazards. We collaborate with landowners and consulting foresters.

We offer several core services:

• Carbon Removal Credits: We develop carbon removal credits by burying post-wildfire biomass. This finances our reforestation efforts across the American West. Current projects include Wood Preserve MT 1 (~5,000 tonnes CO₂e), Sheep Creek (279,269 Tonnes CO2e), and Feather River Dome (51,136 Tonnes CO2e).
• Seed and Seedlings: We own and operate two wild tree seed and seedling nurseries in the West: Silvaseed, with a 153-year history, and Cal Forest, California’s largest private nursery. These nurseries are crucial hubs in the U.S. forestry supply chain for wildfire recovery. We also operate the largest seed bank in the western United States, organize local native seed collections, and grow an average of 36 million seedlings annually. We grow most seedlings for California and manage most seed for the 11 western states.
• Reforestation: We provide end-to-end reforestation support, from seed management to securing project finance.

Since our founding in 2016, we have restored thousands of acres across California, Montana, and Oregon.

Our mission is to cultivate and protect the biological legacy of Western conifer forests for future generations. We aim to restore forests at scale, making recovery after catastrophic wildfires possible for affected communities and ecosystems. We take a serious approach to carbon removal and partner with those who share this commitment.

We operate with a team of 11-50 employees. Our team works across North America, with a home base in Seattle’s Ballard Brewery District for gatherings.
