Position Overview
N-Power Medicine is hiring an Oncology Clinical Data Abstractor/Curator IV This position will have a fundamental role in collecting and maintaining comprehensive and accurate cancer data used to pre-screen candidates for clinical trials.
You will be a part of a dynamic data abstraction team with the opportunity to impact the future of clinical research and improve patients’ lives, while growing professionally at a dynamic, fast-growing, start-up organization.
You will contribute to the development of our platform by collaborating with our data and software teams to accelerate and innovate our platform and the collection of quality, regulatory-grade clinical data.
This position is remote within the United States.
Role Objectives and Responsibilities
-Retrieve, abstract and curate high quality oncology data sets from various EHR platforms into an electronic data capture (EDC) system
-Ensure compliance and confidentiality with Company’s and network site’s policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
-Curate a comprehensive data set including, but not limited to, patient history, diagnosis, treatment regimens, disease progression and genomic testing results according to proprietary abstraction guidelines
-Participate in the continual improvement of processes by providing feedback and recommendations pertaining to abstraction workflows, user experience, educational resources, features, and tools
-Provide input on workflow improvements, user tools, documentation and abstraction best practices
-Mentor and support new and existing team members, providing guidance on abstraction workflows and clinical content
-Involvement with data quality assurance activities
-May assist with monitoring and prioritizing case assignments and team productivity
-Support technology advancement efforts to improve data flow and abstraction efficiency
-Availability during core business hours with flexibility to attend weekly team and company meetings as required
-Perform other duties as assigned to support team and company goals
Education, Experience, Behavioral Competencies, & Skills
-5+ years of relevant experience with oncology data abstraction/curation from health information systems utilizing industry standard data ontologies
-Bachelor’s degree preferred
-Oncology/Hematology RN, LPN, Clinical Research Associate (CRA), Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) credential or equivalent professional experience, preferred
-Experience in both solid tumor and hematologic malignancy abstraction
-Experience abstracting cancer genomic testing data, required
-Experience with OncoEMR and/or EPIC, preferred
-Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast-evolving environment
-Technical savvy and a strong desire to learn new systems and technology
-Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
-Solutions-oriented team player who offers developmental feedback and drives quality
-Excellent oral/written communication & interpersonal skills
-Strong desire to drive a paradigm change in clinical research conduct and improve the quality of care for cancer patients
-Familiarity with HIPAA and FDA regulated clinical trials research requirements, preferred
-Ability to work effectively in a HIPAA-compliant home office
-Excellent oral/written communication & interpersonal skills
-Generous, curious, and humble
Travel Requirements
- Up to 5% of time required to travel in role (out of 100%)
$35 - $41 an hour
The expected hourly range for this position is $35.00 and $41.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. N-Power Medicine (NPM) offers equity at hire as well as a discretionary annual bonus which may be available based on Company performance. This position is eligible for company benefits at 30+ hours/week.
