Job Description
Department: Automation / Maintenance
Job Purpose: To develop and maintain high-speed automation systems for discrete manufacturing machinery. The role requires expertise in logic control, motion synchronization, and high-speed counting using Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform.
Responsibilities:
- Program Modicon M580/M340 PLCs for discrete applications (packaging machines, conveyors, robotic cells) using EcoStruxure
- Develop sequential control logic using SFC (Sequential Function Chart) to manage complex machine states (Start, Stop, Abort, Hold) according to standards like PackML.
- Standardize code using Derived Function Blocks (DFBs) for repetitive discrete assets (e.g., a standard “Conveyor Section” or “Pick-and-Place” block).
- Diagnose electrical and logic faults on high-speed lines to minimize downtime and ensure safety compliance
- Select the appropriate programming language (Ladder vs. Structured Text) for specific machine functions (e.g., ST for complex data sorting, LD for safety interlocks).
Qualifications
- Experience in Discrete Automation, specifically with high-speed machinery, material handling, or assembly robotics.
- Advanced proficiency in EcoStruxure Control Expert (Unity Pro) and IEC 61131-3 languages.
- Expertise in Modicon M340/M580, counting cards, and motion/drives integration.
- Knowledge of fieldbuses relevant to discrete control (CANopen).
