Job Description
As an Associate Producer on the Weekend TODAY team, you will be responsible for pitching, writing and producing weekly franchise tape packages, show open, order graphics, research and produce live segments for broadcast.
Responsibilities:
- Produce weekly franchise segment Life Well Lived), news content, primarily for broadcast, including research, interviews, writing & editing scripts, overseeing tape edits
- Produce fast-paced pop culture news (Pop Start)
- An Associate Producer is expected to both pitch story ideas and work on assigned stories developed by the editorial team
- Work with Standards & Legal Team to ensure Editorial Standards of all segments
- Work with morning team on Show Open and show fixes and updates
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of editorial experience working in news production, preferably at the network level with morning television and/or short-format storytelling
- Experience working with an Editor
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Previous experience with Editorial decision making
- Must be able to shoot and edit
- Strong journalistic writing and research skills, as well as editorial judgment
- Must be willing to work Wednesday-Sundays and work flexible hours especially weekends, overtime, nights, holidays – often with short notice.
- Can be “on call” 24 hours a day / 7 days a week
- Must be flexible with learning additional skills and other production responsibilities

Desired Qualifications:
- Control Room Experience
- Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
- Previous experience with DALi, Template Farm, and/or VIZrt
- Experience working with Photoshop
- Experience working with Media Central, Inews and editing software
- A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong storytelling ability
- Knowledge of NBC News Policies and Guidelines and Practices
- Familiarity with social media
- Experience Producing Podcasts

- Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000
