Universal Television Entertainment is responsible for world-class television entertainment. The division programs and markets content across leading entertainment brands Bravo, NBC and Peacock, and produces over 3,000 hours of television annually through Universal Studio Group, the studio business comprised of Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Together, these teams align NBCUniversal’s content and production expertise to inspire global audiences with television that entertains and shapes culture.
Job Description
The Manager, Business Affairs will lead the end-to-end Tradeouts process, including negotiating terms with Production Companies, routing approvals, and maintaining consistency across seasons and series. This individual will report to the SVP, Business Affairs.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Production Companies to negotiate and communicate Tradeout terms, maintaining consistency across series/seasons and aligning with NBCUniversal’s exposure thresholds
- Develop and manage a streamlined Tradeouts approval workflow, including evaluating requests, clarifying deal parameters, and routing for Creative, Legal, Sales, Compliance, and Press/Marketing approvals
- Oversee the creation of a “reference guide” including agreed upon terms, newly formed processes for managing requests, and supporting materials to educate internal stakeholders, as part of the streamlining process
- Negotiate deal terms with production entities and on-air talent in connection with the development and production of content, primarily unscripted, for NBCUniversal’s television and streaming networks and platforms
- Draft initial term sheets and negotiate comments seeing through to completion and signature short form agreements reflecting negotiated deal points
- Maintain internal deal trackers and reporting for leadership
- Participate in updating management systems
- Act as a liaison with all internal and external offices with the ability to solve problems strategically and find solutions, as required
- Manage special projects as designated
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in transaction or entertainment matters
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
Desired Characteristics:
- Juris Doctorate (JD), Bar Admission
- Prior experience negotiating tradeout terms
- Solid strategic thinking, problem solving, and communication skills
- Knowledge of FCC Sponsorship Identification rules a plus
- High attention to detail and experience managing time-sensitive requests with a 24-48-hour turnaround
- Prior experience negotiating development and series-related agreements (i.e., license agreements, co-production and talent agreements)
- Solid and effective negotiating skills and excellent drafting skills
- Detailed-oriented and demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment
- Demonstrated experience and willingness to perform at a high level as a team player
- Working knowledge of the SAG, WGA, and DGA basic agreements and the AFTRA Code
- Studio experience a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, in-house environment
- Good overall business judgment and self-confidence
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work
- Demonstrated ability to execute and follow through
- Self-started with demonstrated initiative and accountability
- Demonstrated ability to assume greater responsibility as circumstances dictate
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $85,000 - $110,000 (bonus eligible)
