Job Description
The Sr. Data Analyst, Business Solutions will join the Film & TV Studios Technical Solutions team within Studios Technology Solutions. This role supports analytics initiatives across the Film and TV business, advancing the growth, adoption, and effective use of data as a strategic capability.
The Sr. Data Analyst partners closely with business stakeholders and enterprise data engineering teams to analyze complex datasets, generate actionable insights, and deliver scalable analytics solutions that drive strategic decision-making across Universal Entertainment. This role supports key business areas including but not limited to Global Data Strategy, Film Strategy & Business Development, Marketing, Theatrical Distribution, and Finance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform in-depth analysis across Universal Entertainment business areas, including Marketing, Global Data Strategy, and Business Development, to generate actionable insights that support data-driven decision-making
- Translate business questions and stakeholder requirements into analytical frameworks and scalable reporting solutions aligned with enterprise analytics strategy and roadmap priorities
- Build, enhance, and maintain dashboards and self-service analytics tools using BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
- Partner with Engineering and Enterprise data teams to support data pipelines, integrations, data quality, and analytics readiness across initiatives
- Write advanced SQL queries to extract, transform, validate, and analyze large datasets across enterprise data platforms
- Support the implementation, enhancement, and enterprise adoption of analytics solutions
- Communicate insights clearly through data storytelling, visualization, and stakeholder presentations
- Contribute to advanced analytics initiatives, including audience insights, forecasting, experimentation, and ML/AI-enabled use cases
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, data analytics or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence or analytics-focused roles
- Advanced proficiency in SQL for complex querying, data validation, and analysis
- Strong experience working with enterprise data platforms and analytics tools
- Experience translating business requirements into analytical frameworks and reporting solutions
- Experience analyzing and validating marketing, audience, or digital performance datasets
- Experience with BI and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or Looker)
- Experience working with large datasets across multiple data sources and systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Experience working in cross-functional teams involving marketing partners, data engineers, and technology teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain analytical findings to non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage analytics work independently across multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in the global Media & Entertainment industry
- Understanding of the Film, TV, and Streaming landscape, including digital marketing and consumer behavior trends
- Experience in the following data platforms and technologies: BigQuery, Snowflake, Vertex AI, Cloud Composer, BigQuery ML, AutoML AWS, S3, Python and SQL
- Experience in television networks, television studios, and streaming a plus
- Experience supporting large-scale analytics programs or enterprise analytics initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to adopt new technologies quickly and articulate their business value
- Proactive, self-directed work style with strong initiative and the ability to manage work independently
Additional Requirements
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
